Outstanding! August 1, 2008 Marco Krasselt (Leipzig) 1 aus 1 fanden die folgende Rezension hilfreich
I have been searching a long time for some kind of summary of clinical medicine fitting my coat's pocket. It should contain the key diseases of internal medicine, some clinical chemistry and everyday needed clinical hints. Especially the German ones are not bad, but either not compact enough or important details are missing. The OHCM however is unique. Whatever you are searching for: you nearly find anything. There is always a short explanation of the disease itself followed by the pathology, diagnosis and therapy. Though not only some kind of list! The authors use short sentences in great style: easy to understand, clear, on the point, no unneeded rubbish. Nevertheless containing anything you need. The short "articles" on a topic are accompanied by coloured pictures/photos or additional information (e.g. tests, schemata, tables, causes, examples...) on the opposing page. The book has also a "Signs & symptoms" section as well as some kind of "Emergency guide" with therapy schemata for the most common emergencies e.g. coma, DKA or chest pain. Its print layout is fantastic and coloured. The cover is a so-called "turtleback" meaning it is made of a synthetic material and therefore ought to be water-repellent as soon as quite durable. Moreover it has three ribbon page marker, helping you in fast finding some things you read before. Summing up I can say it is a great book for everyday life at the hospital, supporting you with a lot of information and clinical hints. Even though it is small enough to fit in your already overloaded pocket. I am using it very satisfied for my clinical electives and will not miss it again.
