even has a great gluten free recipe.... August 25, 2008 eggless cookie lover (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
...well technically it has two, but they are really just variations of each other. I would reccomend using 'Dove Farm white gluten free flour' instead of the quinoa flour though - trust me! also, use muffin cases instead of fairycake cases and the cakes will be proper size. The 'Chocolate Gluten Freedom Cupcakes' are brilliant. No-one will know that they are gf unless you tell them. [although they're only good on the day of making and the day after]. The regular vegan recipes are great too, and rely on proper ingredients. They can even be transformed into gluten free without much hassle. ==> great book
Best vegan cookbook I own! August 20, 2008 Ms. S. L. Main Really can't give this book enough praise. The ingredients are easy to find and don't call for expensive 'egg replacers' and what not only found in health food stores like lots of vegan cakes. Has lots of lovely pictures throughout the book and have tried and tested many! Can't recommend this book enough!
Made being Vegan easier. August 16, 2008 Deskmouse (Leeds UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As a recent Vegan (for health reasons) I was feeling a bit depressed about the options open to me food wise. I am a baker at heart and to not be able to eat what I cooked was not fun. However I stumbled across this book and the world became a better place again. Once you make the simple vanilla cupcakes you are hooked and cannot wait to bake the next batch. My family, friends and work colleagues do not believe that these are dairy free and my fussy eater nieces love them too. I cannot recommend this book enough. One tip is to buy measuring cups and spoons, plus an oven thermometer if you are on gas. Invaluable.
I love this book! July 30, 2008 fbly 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Let's face it, cupcakes are cute :o) and this is the cutest recipe book in the world! Best of all, all the recipes are animal friendly! Whoopie! Every single recipe in this book is creative and look (and taste!) divine! The photography is beautiful and makes you want to have the real thing in front of you immediately, the most inspiring cook book ever! As mentioned by others, the measurement are American, but once you have the equipment (buy some measuring cups today!) I find the recipes are much easier to follow than the Brit weighing method. More advice: if your oven is a bit off with the temperatures, buy an oven thermometer. The first poor batch of cupcakes I made sunk :o( it was because my oven was too cold. I cant even read the temperatures on my oven, guesstimating does not work! But once I used an oven thermometer all was well, and very very yummy!
Unbelievable - it is a fantastic book July 2, 2008 P. Christophers I can't stand it - I'm going to put on soooo much weight - these cup cakes are easy, quick and delicious. Highly recommended to all not just vegans!
