Wonderful Anthology for Children April 28, 2005 Alvin R. Cunningham (Streator, Illinois United States) A wonderful collection of unique and helpful children's stories, profusely illustrated. This anthology contains thirty-three stories in eight chapters on: Appreciating Others, Family, Friends, Monsters, Nature, Self-Esteem, Special Kids, and Wisdom. It will make a great addition to your family library!
Original, quality, writing that helps and entertains. July 10, 1998 This book impressed both my children and me. The stories are fresh, imaginative, and entertaining. It is a collection of illustrated, short stories that cover a wide range of problems encountered in day-to-day life. The characters resolve their problems or, in some cases, find out that they weren't really problems after all. I also enjoyed reading the little biographies of both the authors and the illustrators, and my children enjoyed the photos that were included with the biographies. It gives the book a warm, personal, feeling that comes across in the writing. I was surprised to find out that almost all the writers are first-time authors. We particularly enjoyed the section on "Monsters" and the stories "Sleepyland Slide" and "Rupert's Gift." These were the stories my children requested over and over again until I almost had them memorized. "The Sleepyland Slide," in particular, is one of the more imaginative inclusions and my children's favorite by far. They told me that they want me to take them "to see it when it's made into a movie." Thank you to all involved in this book, your stories were genuinely appreciated by our household.
