Don't Give This One Away - Keep It ! February 20, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this book nineteen years ago. I have read and re-read it, re-discovering it in the bookshelves when most needed, and it has spoken to me so deeply about what God is really like. (For example, God is not a crosspatch who only forgives you if you catch him in the right mood!! etc). I call it my 'self-esteem book' and take it when facing a challenge such as a hospital stay or difficult relatives. It is a healing fountain and shield for the limping children of the post-war 'better-parent-than-thou' generation.
Healing for Damaged Emotions. September 27, 2003 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Whilst reading this book, I found myself saying "that's me, I have that problem". If you are hurting emotionally, and really want to know more about your own hurts, and how to move forward with God, this book is for you. I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for deeper answers to their emotional problems. It has been a massive help to me. I would like others to benefit from this book.
Excellent and practical help in healing for damaged emotions February 26, 2003 M. Royal (Berkshire, England) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is the best book I have read to date for help and guidance on understanding the emotional turbulence many experience through painful events in their lives and the subsequent effect of forming hurting people.Even as Christians, the effects of deep rooted hurts can often be evident, but this book offers practical personal direction and excellent explanations regarding how emotions can be understood and worked with. It is both Biblically spiritual and refreshingly realistic as well as being very easy to read. I think it is applicable whether one is a Christian or not. Even if you yourself are not in need of emotional support, it is a great handbook in offering advice in helping friends or family members who may need sensitive assistance and understanding of their individual struggles. All in all, absolutely brilliant.
