Recovery step by step December 15, 2006 Bluebell This book is very well planned out. Easy to read and has short exercises to complete, which helps to get things out your system. It is a must for any woman who has struggled after their abortion.
Recommended to anyone May 4, 2004 8 out of 11 found this review helpful
Why is this book not published in the UK??? Living in England and having browsed dozens of bookstores for ANYTHING relating to abortion, I was a little weary ordering this book - but it had everything I needed. The first two chapters are really hard to work through, but once I'd done that, everyone around me noticed the difference. I have been able to accept my abortion as something that happened - and even get something positive out of the experience! I recommend this book to anyone who has had anything to do with an abortion or to anyone who is curious about the experiences.
A wonderful reading experience and a great service... February 11, 1999 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
This book's title belies the even-handed approach the authors take with an often difficult topic. The book's rich anecdotes and tactical, forward-thinking perspective renders it more than interesting reading: the book is a tool that can be used by women who have had abortions and the men who support them. The Healing Choice should be required reading for hospital and clinic staffs, psychotherapists, and medical school students who need to better understand what follows the termination of a pregnancy. At the end of the day, this book is not about abortion, it's about the process of mending.
A BOOK FOR ALL AGES November 17, 1997 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
At sixteen I had my first abortion and at seventeen my second. This book brought me back to the days of my abortion and made me remember how scared I was and how I never want to do this again. I couldn't put it down I wanted to do all the exercises in one night but with moderation this book can heal pain, and also guilty feelings. By the end of the book I felt like I had really done something for myself and not some hideous thing. This book related to everything I was feeling at 18 years old. It is a must read for any young girl or woman who has experienced this procedure.
Finally, a "Choice" books that accords PAS dignity. June 7, 1997 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I hope that my Pro-Life sisters will read this book. It respects both sides. Above all, it exposes reality and the seriousness of post-abortive trauma. The many *exercises* reveal, in private for the post-abortive woman performing them, the reality, the circumstances, the society and the person who chose that abortion, thereby opening a dialogue with the life that was taken. Healing begins with honest confrontation.
