careful! May 25, 2004 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
a good source of information on iron shirt chi kung, but this is not a technique to be practiced alone without instruction as the pressure that might otherwise be unwittingly placed on internal organs through the breathing techniques could be damaging.
Good but needs accompniment November 23, 2003 S K Armstrong (Guildford, Surrey United Kingdom) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
this book is very good on the subject of iron shirt and chi kung in general. however it needs to be sifted through in order to "keep whats useful and move on" as bruce lee was fond of saying. i would reccomend reading and practicing glenn morris before reading this in order to get the best from it.
Excellent content, but repetitive at times. September 30, 1999 9 out of 12 found this review helpful
This book gives an excellent insight into the mysteries of iron shirt practice, and is full of wonderful descriptions and diagrams depicting the relevant anatomy and the postures used in practice. Mantak Chia is a true master, and knows the western anatomical basis of iron shirt well. The only criticisms of this book are, firstly it's repetitive nature; it could easily have been written in half this length, and secondly, it insists on trying to entice you to buy further books from the same series to understand fully the content, and so is not really a stand alone title. Aside from these criticisms, at the price, this is an excellent purchase, and would deserve 5 crowns with only minor changes to content.
