Brilliant and Original December 19, 2008 D&D But there is now a revised and updated version published in 2008 - ISBN-10: 1585426504. See my (deservedly gushing) review there.
A good reference that you'll use again and again! November 18, 2008 Alan Bridges (London, UK) Energy Medicine by Donna Eden can be approached, read and utilised on several different levels. It is first, as its title suggests, something of a treatise on energy medicine or as the author calls it energy kineseology. Eden adeptly explains the basic together with some of the more advanced concepts of energy medicine. Her approach is fresh in that her position is that working with and healing energy is something that humans have instinctively done for millions of years and not a New Age realisation as some authors mistakenly imply. Energy Medicine focuses on eight major energy systems of the human body - the meridians, the chakras, the aura, the Celtic weave, the basic grid, the five rhythms, the triple warmer and the strange flows. To cultivate the reader's interest and understanding, she offers lots of descriptions and diagrams to ground what might otherwise be an abstract topic. The book can also be used as a workbook as Eden provides countless examples of everyday situations and ailments that can be seen as energetic dysfunctions and treated with her step-by-step instructions. And finally, it is the sort of book that those who are new to energy medicine as well as those who are experienced in it will want to have to hand. Its detailed index makes it very easy to find a specific topic, complaint or technique. Additionally, her citations of laboratory and clinical research to support her assertions and suggestions go further to increase the book's value as a reference work. Energy Medicine was first published nearly ten years ago and yet still remains one of what I consider to be the top ten books on the subject. It's the kind of book that will become quite worn. You'll find yourself reading and using it again and again. And that's one of the best yardsticks to measure just how good a book is.

why not include sections on light therapy for seasonal depression and electro-convulsive therapy - as these involve energies that actually exist

In the foreword to this book, Caroline Myss states "The contribution Donna Eden has made with Energy Medicine will stand as one of the backbone studies as we lay a sound foundation for the field of holistic medicine." I found that Eden's approach to energy medicine is simple, yet amazing. She incorporates many ancient ways of healing, focusing on Chinese meridian theory, the chakras, the aura, the 5 elements, and four other systems. She explains our multi-layers, how to maintain them, and how to weave all the energy systems together. Her five-minute daily routine for "keeping your energies humming," for instance, is easy to follow and practice yourself. She also shows how the body is a barometer. Even lack of joy shows up in the body. Eden is a highly developed intuitive, and you will find

There are many books about health, but very few which provide a self-help manual for health maintainance that is as effective as this. My partner and I have been using the techniques in this book for the past few months, and have both found them to be first class. There is also a great deal of very valuable information that is interestingly presented.
