This book was given to me to be a travel companion, and it certainly was a good book to pick up on boring journeys. My experiences weren't so enlightening or out-of-the-ordinary as those in this collection of short stories from women writers who have travelled the world to many wierd and wonderful places. It is impossible to give the same comment about all of the stories because they are all so different: some were very personal stories about a place that is special to them, others are accounts of the bizarre characters and experiences that they met on the way. Almost all of them however experience a shift in their attitudes in some way.
Each story is punctated with quotes to think about that support the story itself. May take a bit of effort to read at times, but most people would find a few stories that will strike a chord.
It certainly does make you wonder what and who is out there... not least the authors!
