Not bad December 2, 2008 Christine E. Scott (USA) I was pleasantly surprised. It was much better than I thought. Although, no Colin still quite enjoyable. Lake scene was a riot! A nice twist to the story. As she says in the movie, "Jane Austen is rolling in her grave." lol
A Must see November 22, 2008 Caz First watched this on the tv and was hooked. Excellent costumes and had me in stitches. Gave this a 4 only due to missing out the part where Amanda is asked to sing which on the tv she sang 'down town'. I believe this made the witty comments afterward confusing for those who have only seen it on the DVD, I also believe it missed out the crucial first signs of Darcy's affection for Amanda. However I still enjoyed it and will definitely be watching it again
Escape from reality and get Lost in Austen November 22, 2008 N. Bowring (Sussex) Lost in Austen was never meant to be taken as a serious portrayal of Pride and Prejudice, even though I found all the actors played their parts very convincingly. I loved the sheer implausibility of a 21st century girl walking through her bathroom cupboard into the 18th century and her favourite novel of all time. As Amanda, the modern girl who finds herself in this time warp, Jemima Rooper is quite brilliant. A natural comedienne, she somehow manages to make living in two different centuries totally credible. Lost in Austen is a delicious escape from reality. Owning the dvd means you can dip into a fun filled fantasy world with the click of a button and get truly lost in Austen.
Lost in Austen November 21, 2008 C. Whitear Never been interested in Period Dramas and Colin Firth does nothing for me, only wanted to see this one because of the twist and the great cast. This is great TV, I haven't enjoyed a series as much as this in a long time. I thought do I need to buy a DVD when I've seen the series on TV, of course I did its Addictive and brought two of them. I don't mind if someone borrows ONE, that way I will never be without my Darcy. Who wouldn't want to watch Elliot Cowan Articulate, Educated and Handsome (Sexy)man. I think I've fallen a little in love with him myself. OOPS! Did I say that out loud. I cannot say enough about this series only want more!!!
Great twist on original storyline! November 21, 2008 Ms. Sarah Coates This was a great show, one of the funniest, cleverest and best cast things of the last few years (the cast really is amazing!) I caught it first time round on TV and loved it so much I had to get the DVDs. I love period dramas and was unsure at the beginning whether I would enjoy a programme that had twisted the original story line (of one of my favourite books) but i was completely wrong as the twist made me sit on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. It was amazing!
