Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Highway is a unique, easy to fit in-car DAB digital radio that also enables you to listen to your iPod/MP3 player. Powered from the in-car power socket and easily attached to your windscreen with a removable flexible mount (just like sat nav) Highway receives DAB stations and transmits them to your car radio on a free FM frequency. Simply tune your car radio to the FM frequency shown on Highway?s display to listen to DAB or your iPod/MP3 player. DAB digital radio brings you more stations including BBC 7, BBC Five Live Sports Extra, Planet Rock and theJazz. National AM stations such as talkSPORT, Virgin and BBC Five Live are also broadcast in crisp, clear digital-quality DAB. Highway is packed with great, easy-to-use features such as ReVu? to pause and skip back through live DAB radio, quickSCAN to find free FM transmission frequencies, and 4 FM transmission presets (synchronize these with your car radio?s FM presets to make avoiding interference a breeze). You can even take Highway from the car when your journey?s over and carry on listening using headphones*. * Headphones not included. Whether you want to enjoy the digital stations in-car that you do at home, listen to your iPod/MP3 player on the move, or just discover DAB, Highway brings a lot more entertainment to your journey.

4 out of 5 stars Very good - even without the wires everwhere   October 9, 2008
Dean Stubbs (UK)
I left it 3 weeks before writing this so I'd have enough miles under my belt to test it properly and also the novelty of having it would have worn off. For the price I have to say I'm impressed. It isn't as clear as FM and the number of stations you can pick up can be disappointing (even with non-car DAB) but if you know this before buying you won't feel let down.
Setup tooks 5 mins and rather than sticking mount to the windscreen I ditched the idea altoghter and have the unit in the compartment between the front seats. Similarly I didn't stick the aerial to the windscreen - I just slotted it into the pocket on the rear of the drivers seat. This means I can use the power point in the back and there's minimal cable visible - sitting in the front you wouldn't know the unit was there.
I live in the North West and the reception has been fine; I did have to manually tune the untit to broadcast to 87.6 however as the auto-search kept finding frequencies that didn't last long before local stations overwhelmed the signal.
All in a very good buy.

4 out of 5 stars Purely good   October 4, 2008

Why not 5 stars ?
The only quibble is that it loses the DAB signal from time to time. Now, that could be because the signal itself drops out, but you have to suspect that maybe the amplifier could be better.

Overall, its great. You get good sound, and people can't believe they are listening to the same station that sounds so muddy on medium wave. Recommended especially if you are a Sports fan (5 Live, 5 Sports Extra or TalkSport).

4 out of 5 stars A good buy.   September 28, 2008
S. Purves (Devon)
Having thought long and hard and after reading plenty of reviews;I finally decided to buy one of these. And I am so glad i did! What a beauty, crystal clear DAB radio in my car!Having been a DAB radio addict for a number of years this was a long awaited addition for me.Easy to set up, easy to use.Other reviewrs have complained of the aerial being a bit obtrusive, but its not that bad just tuck the wires away. Buy buy buy............

1 out of 5 stars Not impressed at all   September 26, 2008
B. Lovell (Kent)
Really was not impressed with this, after reading all the reviews i was like im deffinately getting one as my current radio is a little bad as the connections loose. I thought this would sort me out and stop me turning over the radio every time i loose signal. How wrong was i!!. It was easy to set up but once on, i found my self constantly scanning to get a decent signal. I only listen to a few radio stations, the ones i wanted to listen to would not work. LBC for example, it constantly kept loosing signal, cutting out and pausing, i found my self using my broken radio which performed better. Gets a 1* from me, might just be where im located (West Kent) but i cant see that as im bordering London. It's now being sold on eBay.

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant, but only if an external Ariel fitted   September 14, 2008

Ace bit of kit, pausing BBC7 for about 8 mins during telephone calls!

I drive a new Mondeo all over the midlands, With the internal radio it worked, but had frequent dropouts. Possibly mounting the ariel on the drivers side would be slightly better, as clear of de-mister wires within the screen.
I am now getting perfect results with a self modified Taxi 1/4 wave ariel from Maplin (N23AC). See the pure highway FAQ for confirmation.
I cut the whip to 33.2cm which is perfect for BBC7 which gave me most problems.
I have fitted my own right hand 2.5 mm stereo plug signal to tip, outer to braid, nothing to middle. I also cut the original ariel from pure at just before the sticky black block. and fitted a stereo 2.5mm socket on the cable. with this then I have enough cable to mount and hide cables.
Take care not to short any wires. don't drag off roof or will scratch the paint.
