Great in most ways but not the most important one November 6, 2008 Mr. R. W. Tracey (London, England) Ok. I've just purchased a new PC with a top of the range Creative labs sound card, the next order of business was a good pair of PC speakers. Having read the rave reviews on this site & others, I decided to go for the Soundsticks II. Well, the build quality is excellent, both the satellites & the bass unit have a really solid, quality feel about them & it looks great too. Setup is easy, just take a moment to examine the connections, they look a bit like an S-Video connection and if you're not careful it is possible to break the small pins inside. The only drawback is the sound quality. Perhaps I'm being over critical as I normally listen to music with Shure E5C headphones but still, in my humble opinion, these speakers just don't sound that good with music. You should take some time to play around with the positioning of the sat's, this did help to some extent. Games are a different matter, the sub is great with shoot-em' up's and everything else I've tried so far. Finally I would say, if you frequently listen to music through your PC & you want excellent sound quality, don't go for these. They are excellent on gaming, build quality & looks.
Fantastic speaker November 6, 2008 G. Nguyen (Leeds, UK) It is absolutely fantastic, both product and service I ordered it 2 days go with super saver delivery, and I received a confirm email of dispatching item next morning. And it's delivered 1 hours ago. Very good service, Amazon!! It's easy to setup with the instruction included. It supported both plugs for UK and Asian countries, it will very nice when I'm back in my home country The sound is fantastic, I try some dance song with maximum volume, absolutely amazing! The sub is working well with a nice blue light One more thing, I read a lot of review before buy this item, and a lot of people complain about on/off button. I read the instruction carefully and they said it's available! It's a grey button behind the sub (which alo the turning volume for this sub). Just push it, and then all the speakers are turned off. Last but not least, It's very well designed with touch sensitive volume control. Absolutely amazing, I will definitely suggest it for all of my friends. THERE ISNT ANY PROBLEMS AT ALL!! Many thanks to Harman Kardon and Amazon
Good, But Severely Overrated October 29, 2008 Farah Ali I bought these things some six months ago, and I must say that I have not yet come across a speaker system that is even half as striking. They really do look fabulous. However, beauty is only half the story. Remember the Motorola PEBL? That looked great but was essentially rubbish underneath. The speakers are excellent when it comes to handling treble frequencies, with clear, accurate sound and almost no distortion even at high power levels. Unfortunately, the rest of the product is nowhere near as rosy as everyone has been lead to believe. The quality of the bass is terrible (intrusive, insipid and unpleasant) and THERE - IS - NO - MIDRANGE. Granted, this only presents itself as a problem when the speakers are under heavy load and there is bright and aggressive electronic music blaring out of them, but it is possible to notice its complete absence even when listening to everything else. Finally, which marketing clot at HK had the bright idea of selling these things at 100+ (with no midrange reproduction)? They are massively overpriced. Just my tuppence.
Another Positive Review October 10, 2008 Mr. M. B. Billingsley (Buckinghamshire, U,K,) I've been meaning to get these speakers for a while but somehow never got round to it. I took the leap and got them today and can't believe I didnt order them sooner. Even though most of the other reviews were positive -I was still skeptical- I still wondered if they would suit my diverse music collection. Another reservation I had was the speakers -I thought they could be tinny in sound and badly made. Complete hogwash! They are sturdy and have a weighted base and supply a quality sound. I wasn't worried about the subwoofer and it has met my high expectations. It is perfect for all genres, but to get the best results sometimes turn the bass up for more electronic/heavy rock songs and then switch it to midway for more acoustic/jazz/classical stuff...The price is not to be quibbled at. If these were to get stolen I would near to immediately buy another pair. I use them for for my laptop and mp3 player. Whilst there have been many suggestions that there could be an on/off switch -it isn't much effort turning them off at the wall after use but I agree this switch would come in handy. So to summarise: They are a great pair of speakers/subwoofer and this review only further champions their style, quality and value for money.
Simply the best October 6, 2008 Ms. H. B. H. Hosegood (Devon, England) I bought these speakers in 2006 when they were half the price they are now, and they are still as good today as ever. I have them attached to my computer and they are a joy to listen to. I say get them now before they go up any more, because whatever the price they are brilliant. They look great, they sound fantastic, they are easy to use, and perhaps because of all the glass you'll look after them carefully and they'll last you well.
