Excellent! October 29, 2008 R. Parsonson (England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a smart digibox that has worked perfectly with no problems for over a year for me. There is certainly no high pitch noise (it actually makes less noise than my sky+ boxes!) Great box for watching sky with.
Works ok, but looks very tacky October 26, 2008 Vermin (London) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had this box for a few weeks now and reception, picture quality and sound are decent. Not quite as good as the TVOnics freeview box I had before but my 5 year old son loves the additional kiddie channels so what am I going to do? I have two main gripes with this box: 1. Looks: it is huge and ugly. Why does a box that has no hard drive have to be so big? I'm pretty sure you can build a Sky box of at most half the size if you wanted. It's a huge lump of cheap plastic with a bright blue lit Sky label on the front, which gives it the character of a dreadful off-license at night. And what's with all the curves? It does not stack well with my stereo kit and it is too big and ugly to sit in sight under my tv. My second gripe is the EPG (Electronic Programming Guide). It is a very dumb piece of programming. A simple example: my old TVOnics had a transparant menu with the TV playing in the background. Hit the menu button on the Sky box and you don't see anything else but the menu and you hear some annoying piece of muzak. To conclude, it's ok for what it does but it's way overpriced and did I mention it's ugly?
a very poor product October 9, 2008 Mr. A. Lucas (lindfield uk) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
i had my previous sky boxfor over 15yrs but since january this year ive had two new but both have failed.as pensioners we cannot afford to keep sending them back, asit is we are unable to view our favourite programmes.moreover if you try calling the service people you keep getting an engauged tone ,even after 4hours!!!!!.
An Awful piece of Kit! September 10, 2007 K. Pryor 6 out of 10 found this review helpful
I had this installed by a 3rd party installer (not sky themselves) because I live in a flat and Sky cannot connect to communal aerials. This is obvious from the look of it that its a cheap and nasty box which Pace have attempted to distract you from it's tackyness with a bright blue SKY logo in the middle but it fails miserably. The buttons on top are awkward to use, and the positioning of them and the odd shape of the box means you cannot stack this with other units you may have in your TV cabinets. By far the most annoying feature of this box though is the very high pitch noise on most (but not all) channels, which is of such a pitch that it cant even be drowned out with your TV volume! All I can compare it with is like a dog whistle noise, and several people have commented that it would annoy them very quickly. It puts you off watching the channels you have paid extra for! I would Definately steer clear of this make of Box in future... I would say that this is proof that good things are not cheap, and cheap things are not good!! If there is an alternative make available for about 20-30 more, I would not even consider this model as its worth the extra to be able to watch the channels you want! Buyers Beware! This box is TERRIBLE!
Reliable and good quality August 30, 2007 D. Ballard (Lincoln, UK) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Had my reciever for a year before upgrading to Sky+. Picture quality & sound were excellent. Not sure what the 'high pitched noise' is that the other review mentions; my box did not have this problem.
