Great product poor out of box experience January 3, 2009 J. Dabill (Guildford) Hi, Bought the product a few weeks ago and my wife and I have been using it and both love it. Your teeth feel really clean and its quick to charge and seems to hold charge well. Other than that not much more one can say about a toothbrush. My only gripes are:- 1) Why is it necessary these days to have all products packaged in the tough sealed plastic that this comes in. Honestly you need a saw to get into the things. Philips take note the world is trying to use less plastic you used about the equivalent of a million carrier bags hermetically sealing this thing. 2) Philips also take note is it not a little cheap to only include one brush head in the packaging, especially as your marketing materials show a picture with a spare head on he back of the stand. Amazon it would be nice to indicate more clearly what is included in the price, the replacement heads add a signicant sum to the total price.
A great brush but don't be tempted to upgrade if you already have a sonicare. December 17, 2008 doublegone (scotland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been using an older sonicare model for about a year and am absolutely delighted with the results. This one is a little slimmer, has simplified buttons and boasts a new "whitening" setting. The brush sets up turbulance in your saliva and toothpaste as it slops around your teeth, so as well as the physical rubbing of the bristles, you get a between tooth clean from the liquid being pushed through. Its no substitute for flossing but really makes a big improvement over brushing with a traditional brush. This can seem a lot of money for a toothbrush, but then again, its tough to get an NHS dentist these days and the costs of dental work make the tag on this gadget seem altogether reasonable when you think about it. I had to buy a special plug adapter for it as I don't have a shaver socket in my house. An included adapter would have been nice at these prices, and this can't be that rare a situation. This brush is every bit as good as my previous model, but I am not that impressed with the new whitening mode. I would say that if you don't have an electronic toothbrush already then this is a very good one to get. If however you already have a previous sonicare model, then do not be tempted to upgrade purely by the new "whitening" setting. Its no great advance and no reason to upgrade. You have to suspect gimmicks like this are an attempt to get existing users to shell out again. If they come up with a significant breakthrough, then fair enough, but this isn't one of those.
Mine died within a year too November 28, 2008 S. Tolputt (Norfolk, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Fantastic toothbrush, but it wears out too fast. Mine has just given up the ghost after 7 months.
Yes, the tester would recommend this. November 25, 2008 Four Violets (Hertford UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I passed this for review to someone who had never used an electric toothbrush, as I already have a similar one. After four weeks she was converted. Not only the tester but other people were impressed with the whiteness of her teeth. Her comment was "I had a slight nagging toothache that would not go away before using it but now that has totally gone". There was the usual adjustment in using the electric brush, and the tester found the "clean and white" option particularly strong and mouth-numbing to begin with. However, the manual toothbrush has been discarded for good...
A toothbrush to smile about November 13, 2008 M. Duone (Caledonia) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Years of using a normal toothbrush and then a cheaper electric toothbrush do not prepare you for using the Philips Sonicare. First of all the high-speed vibration is more than your usual electric toothbrush gives you so you need to get used to that sensation. Secondly, it is on a timer. It divides your mouth into 4 cleaning sections and a little buzz sounds when you need to move to the next section. Then when time is up it switches off, so no more dreaming in front of the bathroom mirror as you clean your teeth or you suddenly find yourself either finished before you should be or standing with a half cleaned mouth. It may sound odd but it is giving you the maximum cleaning time as prescribed by `those experts' who seem to know. Also, you do feel that your teeth have had a good clean (perhaps a better clean) than was the case before. There are three setting to choose from - a normal clean, a sensitive clean and one that is for cleaning and whitening (this gives a few extra seconds to concentrate on your front teeth). The charger can open out into a smaller travel version but it really holds its charge well so I'd only take this if I were away for a fortnight. All in all I am impressed and would recommend this to anyone who is prepared to pay out more for a really good toothbrush.
