Excellent sat nav - but not perfect. August 26, 2008 Fussy Al (London) This is my first sat nav and so far I have been impressed at how easy it is to use and overall with its accuracy, however on a recent journey it did on two occasions give slightly misleading turn directions, as well as not detecting two safety camera locations despite having installed camera updates via Garmin, but then what sat nav is perfect? The re-routing should you miss your turn is very good and for a low cost sat nav it seems to do everything very well, but it's a shame Garmin did not include a 2 usb data cable and I was also unable to register the product online with Garmin and therefore had to contact customer services to register. So if you are looking for a low cost sat nav the Nuvi 200w does the job very well.
A Sound Purchase August 25, 2008 Hugo (UK) The Nuvi 200w is an excellent piece of kit - it does what it is supposed to do reliably and without fuss. My only gripe (and hence the four stars) is that sometimes it takes several minutes to get an initial satellite fix.
Nuvi 200W August 4, 2008 ALFRRO (Dudley, West Midlands) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this even though newer versions were available, of this and the equivalent Tomtom. I'm glad I saved 35! It does everything I need. Directions are good, as are the volume, route calculation time (a few seconds), re-calculation time, (if you miss your turn), notification of speed camera's, etc. You can find and download lots of extra points of interest onto the unit or onto an SD card. You will need the USB cable to download the software update, which is all very straight-forward. You can enter a post-code, town, street name, or my favourite: co-ordinates. I went on Google Earth, found the place I wanted on the map (a National Trust car park), and entered the co-ordinates from the map. The Nuvi took me right there. To be honest, when I was investigating which unit to purchase, I did not look at the expensive ones, so I don't know what additional features you get for your money. But I do know, that whatever they are, it would be 'gilding the Lilly'.
Brilliant mapping shame about the rest July 31, 2008 A.A (Southampton, UK) Bought this off Amazon, it was brilliantly done. Teh mapping was great, screen is brilliant is easier to follow than a TomTom satnav (I've previously used the ONE (1st Ed) and ONE XL). It also has great features such as dragging maps and entering co-ordinates which I found useful. But I had to return it, the sound quality was terrible, at full volume the system vibrates, it's still too quiet and very tinny at 100%, it's virtually unhearable on motorways, and would be even further with the radio on. The sound quality on the Tom Tom's are amazinga nd rich though (even if they do make you get lost and the maps are squished together) It may have just been my system though, I'd highly recommend this product, and recommend it from Amazon too, they ahve best price on the net so far, but I'd also recommend you do a test run prior to purchase if that's at all possible.
Super sat nav July 29, 2008 J. MITCHELL (leics uk) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the first sat nav i have owned and i am very pleased with it,the wide screen is great and the mapping has not let me down yet. The build quality is great and i used my Fuji camera usb lead to connect it to my computer.Sometimes on switch on it takes up to 2 mins to locate the satellites but this is not a problem, all in all well worth the money.
