Top Gear Cool Wall Rating = Cool January 8, 2009 E. C. Carnochan (Dumfries) Does exactly what it said on the box. Got one for Christmas and had it up and running with in 5mins of getting in the Car, My only reason for marking it down is that DAB coverage is rather patchy and signal drops in and out, however I am sure if you were in a full coverage area it would be fine (CHECK YOUR COVERAGE PRIOR TO BUYING). As for the unit itself the only other downside is finding where to hide the leads especially if you also have a satnav(just a small point).
Defective - returned two of these January 8, 2009 D. Burkey (UK) I've now returned two of these. In both cases the radios worked for a few weeks then just stopped working. All I had left on the display was a green back light and no text. Totally unresponsive to any buttons, and obviously no radio output. Pure support just told me to return it to Amazon. This time I've asked for a refund rather than a replacement. It's a pity as this was great while it worked and a clever, cheaper, alternative to a fitted radio. Maybe this was a defective batch but I'm not risking a third one. Disappointing.
What a discovery! January 5, 2009 Mr. Neil Stretton (U.K.) Having been advised by a car audio specialist that DAB car radios in the UK weren't worth fitting because of the lack of usable DAB frequencies in this country, I responded to recent radio advertisements and purchased my PURE Highway on the afternoon of 22nd December. Imagine my surprise when it arrived the following morning (standard post). Top marks, Amazon! Since fitting this (very easy...even for me!) I have been extremely satisfied with this produst. Crystal clear reception of Planet Rock and Classicfm whilst on the move just make my day. OK, there's occasional cut-out, depending on where you are, but this goes back to my original point, and is no blot on the quality of this product. I can't wait to buy a 2nd car kit now, so that I can benefit my PURE Highway, no matter which of my 2 cars I'm driving. Summed up: FABULOUS!
Love it December 26, 2008 A. Meehan (UK) OK, lets get the bad bits out of the way first - but PLEASE read on. Currently DAB is patchy, its line of sight transmission so if a hill or buildings get in the way - the signal drops out. Out of town the main problem appears to be lack of coverage. Now the good bits: If the DAB drops out I can play my MP3 player through it, so instead of having to listen to normal FM or CD I can plug my MP3 player in and off we go. No more needing to either swap CDs on the motorway or listen to the same tracks again and again. 4Gb of MP3s goes a long, long, long way. Also, it is a personal DAB radio, pair of headphone and listen while going round the supermarket. Planet rock eases the pain of shopping and Hells Grannies with their sharpened elbows and battering ram trolleys. It can use lots of batteries so I would recommend high power rechargeable ones. Saves money in the long run (plus also fits my digital camera). It is also cheaper than a DAB car radio - try taking that around the store! It also needs no expert intervention to fit - takes about 10-15 minutes. Most of that trying to contort to fix the mount to the windscreen. All in all very happy with it hence 4 stars.
Pretty good piece of kit! December 24, 2008 D. Bloomfield (coventry) If you just want DAB radio this unit can't be beaten but, if you want to listen to your MP3/ipod through it be prepared for the typical crackle and hiss at the beginning and end of tracks- a bit like the old cassette players. It's pretty cheap and cheerful and easy to install but be prepared to have a lot of wire hanging about!
