Stay clear of this item! August 31, 2008 Mrs. J. Goble 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
When I first bought this item, the picture kept freezing, switching itself off and restarting for no apparent reason. Returned it for an identical model, and the same thing keeps happening. It has also been tried on a different TV, no other receivers have ever given me problems. Don't take my word fot it, put Sagem Setanta and freezing into Google, and you will see what a widespread problem this is
Reboot, reboot, reboot.. July 28, 2008 sanddevil (Chelsea, England) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is truly a piece of junk. Compelled to buy the box for the Setanta Sports subscription, it has been a salutary lesson in being too hasty and not doing my research. The reality is the Sagem machine is totally unstable and cannot remain upright for more than a few hours before it reboots itself. When it goes through its death spasms, the picture first freezes for anything up to 30 seconds, then the audio goes, then I get a green screen before I hear an internal click and it brings itself back to life. Strangely, it has decided (no configuration that I can see) to always reboot to the Sky Sports News channel, regardless of what I was watching before. Obviously if I am recording on my DVD-R something important I have my heart in my mouth all the time hoping against a reboot. Other problems include no EPG (or at least non that I have found) and a counter-intuitive button press system for channel change. All in all, complete and utter rubbish. Spend your hard-earned elsewhere.
Not impressed April 23, 2008 Tom Willis (Scotland) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this so I could view Setanta and my previous digibox didn't have a slot for the card. But this has no viewing guide to speak of, the scart and mains connections have become loose and have I found myself having to re-tune and fiddle about with the connections to get a decent picture. I've recently gone back to using my old Grundig box which is far superior in picture quality and is much better made. The only thing is that it has no slot!
