Sagem 62160SL-T - Freeview Set Top Box With 160Gb HD & Twin Tuner July 8, 2008 mike20021969 (Merseyside) i've had this over a year now. when it works,it works very well. but it has been prone to freezing on a regular (monthly or so) basis (i think that might be down to the software it runs on though).you can record 2 programs at once and watch a previously recorded program.this tends to give the machine problems, with picture freezing, remote refusing to work,an onscreen message telling you you have no signal. also, this machine freezes,i find,if you leave it in pause for more than a few minutes.the only cure for these freezes is to pull the plug outta the wall socket. however, since the latest off air software update last week (july 2008),it has been running flawlessly.
Good kit for the money June 10, 2008 Bridget O (UK) Ok so it takes ages to start up and changing channel can take a long time but it's incredibly good value for money. It allows you to store a vast library of TV to watch back at your leisure and it is very straightforward to use. It plugged in and worked first time - and it has brilliant for the 4 months that we have used it. Not having to watch advert breaks is fantastic.
DO NOT BUY THIS PVR March 28, 2008 Mr. Steven C. Newby (manchester uk) We have had this pvr for close to 9 months and I have a number of complaints about it. - the EPG is out of the ark - the remote takes an age to get the device to act - there is no 'series link' which I believe is now standard on other machines - the device freezes periodically, requiring a reboot - it randomly freezes in the middle of recording programs (really irritating this one because you can start watching something without knowing whether you can watch the end of it). This despite ample spare capacity being left on the hard drive (about 60% full only) - it is quite noisy, although I understand most pvrs are My brother in law has the Humax machine and he is extremely pleased with it. I am about to try to get the retailer to take this heap of junk back so I can replace it with the Humax. To conclude, under no circumstances waste your money on this pvr, there are better options available even if you have to spend slightly more money.
Great little runner..... January 2, 2008 P. Byrne 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
This Sagem seemed to have mixed reviews when I bought it for my girlfriend for Xmas (but I took the plunge anyway). Now she has had it coming on a week I can say we are both pretty impressed. First off it's very easy to use! Pressing the guide button brings up the weeks listing, highlight a programme and press the red record button and that it. Pressing the list button shows you your recorded items highlight one, press enter and it plays. If you are watching a channel pressing the record button gives you instant record without needing the guide. YOU CAN record two programmes at the same time, but you can't watch another channel while you're doing that - only one of the two you are recording. If you are only recording one channel you can flick around as much as you like. You can also start watching a recording before it has ended; as well as pause live TV. I could also see no difference in the quality of the recorded picture to live TV. It's small and pretty quiet. Overall it's a great little machine that changes the way you watch TV. PS. Argos sells it for 99.99
Best for the money but u might get a bad one December 27, 2007 S. S. Rai (England) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
7 ot of 10. The first one I got did not work properly so I took it back and got a new one. This one was much better. It is quiet, looks good and generally does the job. You have to remember that freeview boxes are generally rubbish. I've had a few problems but nothing major. I had a soft upgrade recently and now the EPG is much better - looks similar to Sky TV Guide. I think for the money it is the best but return it if it is a bad one.
