Product Description Geniatech Moni DTV 1200DT is a mini Freeview box designed for you to watch Freeview on a monitor without need to connecting to a TV set or computer, enabling you to watch over 30 Freeview channels and listen digital radio stations in areas Freeview is available. It can also work as an ordinary Freeview set-top box outputting video and sound to a TV. It is a plug and play device with no computer or disk drive needed, compatible with DVB-T and high-definition TV standard, supporting both LCD and CRT monitors. It has got the most of features of a modern TV, such as on-screen operating Manu, memories for up to 1000 channels/stations, Electronic Program Guide (EPG not fully function in the UK) , Multilanguage OSD, stereo sound system and timer. Accessories include remote control & batteries, 3-to-3 AV cables, 8-Pin-DB15F VGA cable, RCA Line/Audio cable, AC-DC power adaptor, Portable DVB-T antenna and User's Manual. The In and Output jacks include Antenna In and Out (loop), AV Out (to TV or monitor), VGA In and Out, Line-In (RAC video in), Audio Out (RAC to speakers), S-Video and DC (12V) In. Please note that there may be difficulty to receive freeview TV signal by the included portable antenna in some areas where the signal is not sufficiently strong. This is due to that the freeview service (www.freeview.co.uk) in the UK does not fully support portable TV antenna at present. The reception will be improving along with the progress of Digital Switchover Program(http://www.digitaltelevision.gov.uk). A signal amplifier or booster may improve reception capability in regions where the signal is marginally strong. (please note that reception capability may also be affected by various factors such as proximity to freeview TV/digital radio transmitters, tall building structures, thick walls, ceilings and etc.). A rooftop TV aerial may be required to watch freeview channels in regions where the signal is insufficient for a portable antenna.

Good Gadget November 1, 2008 A. J. Thomas (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have wired this to an unwanted 19 inch TFT, a 2.1 speaker system and an old radio/cd player. All the cables needed were in the box for the additional equipment, which was a nice surprise. However, set up was very difficult as the TFT could not display the output from the box. The instructions did not cover this problem, but after pressing the P/N button on the remote several times, the box switched from PAL to NTSC which is the required output. The picture quality is excellent and having the sound going through different speakers I now have a neat and very good set up. Despite the set up problems I would rate this as a 10/10 due to the quality of the picture. I previously had this TFT wired to a computer and DVT-B tuner, and the picture quality was no where near as good (same aerial being used now).

Bought this product cos it was the only one of its kind I could find. Does the job ok but there is a bug in the software causing it to crash every now and then. That being said, the picture quality is ok. This product would be better if there was a video input, i.e. for a games console etc etc
Does as it says October 1, 2007 Dunks (UK) 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
After getting rid of my desktop PC for a laptop i found i had a TFT motitor with built in speakers sitting around doing nothing. I looked around at different XGA boxes and came across this little beauty. Now connected up with my monitor, i now have a nice LCD TV with all the freeview channels in the bedroom. The sound's a bit 'tinny' but thats more to do with the speakers built into my monitor. In essence, if you have a TFT monitor sitting around, this is a cheap way to turning it into a digital LCD TV. Just make sure you have a very good aerial as the one included in the box is rubbish. One bad point to add, which knocks 1 star off, is the fact i lost sound a couple of times now and couldnt get it back without powering the unit down and back up.
