Product Description
You can enjoy free digital terrestrial channels in amazing quality with the DTR220! It's easy to set up thanks to automatic channel installation, and its "Pulse Killer Chip" guarantees excellent reception, eliminating interferences caused by electrical pulses. It also includes a "Fast Zapp" function and an Electronic Programmes Guide for increased user comfort. And thanks to its connections system -- 2 scart sockets, including 1 RVB -- you can hook up external devices to this tuner. With its compact and modern design, the DTR220 will look great in any living room!

1 out of 5 stars dont be tight buy a better box   November 21, 2008
P. Donovan (Crook, EN UK)
this is a cheap box and you can tell, i went through 2 in 1 month.
this box loves to freeze for no reason, then you have to unplug it from the wall then plug it back on.

just dont buy spend a bit more quid and getter a better one then this.

2 out of 5 stars Not worthy of the Philips name   November 17, 2008
Mr. L. Williams (Exeter)
I bought this when my reliable Daewoo box was rendered useless by a Freeview transmitter update, and what a disappointment!
The remote control is a miserable affair, tiny, with totally symmetrical keys so you can hold it upside down and wonder why it doesn't work!
When it's working the box is good but it often loses its on-screen graphics and often locks up necessitating the power being switched off and on, it then goes through its start up routine.
I think we expect better than this from Philips

5 out of 5 stars great box at a bargain price   November 13, 2008
G. U. Garber (London, UK)
My old philips freeview box stopped working after 2 years, but this box seemed better designed and I sensed that it will not have the problems described in some of the other reviews. This is because we have a roof mounted aerial with a good signal.
As with our old philips box, the picture is perfect and the menu of this model is much better. I also like the layout and design of the remote control.
Setup was very easy and I have now used it for 2 weeks. It worked perfectly and I did not have to restart it once.
Great product at a good discounted price.

1 out of 5 stars BUGGY   October 26, 2008
Mr. J. V. Grayem
Bought two of these. Both intermitant faults. Sotware crashes, box locks up from time to time. Philips used to make some really good kit, very surprised. My advice spend a little more, getsomething decent, and make sure you check out some reviews. PHILIPS DTR220 - Dosnt do what its supposed to and thats just provide hassle free digital tv, so its no point in having one. Youll just end up with whipped dog syndrome, cursing at it and so forth when it malfunctions.

1 out of 5 stars Another disappointing box of freeze   October 21, 2008
I. Melvin (Fleetwood, UK)
I bought the Philips as a bigger brand to gain improvements over a poor picture provided by my original supermarket own brand box. Whilst the picture quality is superior, numerous problems began to emerge with this product. It regularly freezes, the interactive button does nothing at all and now and then it turns off my television! I returned it as faulty and the second box exhibits exactly the same fault. Philips technical helpline tell me its all my problem because the signal must be weak in my area! It isn't, my other unbranded box gets interactive services with no problem and does not freeze or turn off my television randomly. I have to say that despite my love of my Philips TV, this box is absolute rubbish.. as is Philips technical helpline. I would advise everyone to give this pile of poo a miss.
