Wish they would fix the durability issues! May 5, 2007 Mr. L. Loran (London, UK) Great quality mic for the money. Nice clear stereo sound and the mic picks up speech nice and crisply. But OMG will they please sort out the durability problems. i've now had 4 of these and every single one has broken due to shoddy cable connections, either on the mic of the ear piece. shame really...
Plantronics Audio 90 Stereo PC Headset January 9, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have to say a good headset only let down by the connector lead which it seems doesnt stand up to much handling. I've been very careful not to pull / snag / twist the lead as I know how tempremental they can be. In saying that, my headset managed to last about 15 months of daily use and after reading some comments about the loss of one headphone and then the mic, that's what exactly happned to me. I carefully took the mic controls apart and found that one of the wires had actually broken inside the cable wrapping near to the start of the thick rubber plug (which goes into the mic controls). I can only think that this is a weak point in the cable when its moving around the end of the rubber plug / sleeve. In all, a good headset with a good mic and speakers but Plantronics would need to improve the overall cable strength to avoid internal breaks, if they want me to buy another one.
Unbelievable September 5, 2005 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
What I can't believe is how they can sell so many of these: sure they work great, I mean you can't ask for much more in a quality headphone/microphone combination (excellent sound and microphone), but you would like it to last more than 2 months for 25, which is how long mine lasted. At the moment my microphone doesn't work and the sound in one ear has also stopped working. Somehow the gold bit of the cord that connected the microphone to the PC has snapped in half. I tried doing that with my older headphones, breaking the little connector bit: I couldn't even do it with a large pair of scissors and a lot of effort. Yet my Audio 90s' one fell apart itself. And I have no idea why the right ear sound has stopped working, my headphones have just been lying around my desk all this time. If it was because of the loud music I listen to, then thats a joke. I put 25 into the headset because I wanted to listen to music, rather than buying a cheaper one. It just goes to show how badly this microphone is made. And they didn't even put a warning on the package saying you had to be *really really* careful with them. I am very very disappointed with this and after reading the other reviews I certainly won't be buying another pair of these, or another pair of Plantronics, in fact. Additonally, if you play online games, you will love these, but when the sound quality starts to go weird, they will screw you over and you will find it practically impossible to tell where anyone is coming at you from. Which is very frustrating.
Excellent prototype model February 8, 2005 Felix Valencia (Dublin, Ireland) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Not much can be said that hasn't gone before about this headset, but I thought I'd just offer more evidence for those concerned. Everything about this product in terms of what it offers is excellent. The microphone provides superb sound quality, very crisp and clear, though its a little difficult to find a comfortable position for the mouthpiece if you no longer wear child-sized hats. The headphones themselves are, again, very good, a little treble-oriented, but they handle bass sounds extremely well for such a low cost product. But the problems come in the manufacture quality. Probably in order to make the headset more comfortable (which is another good point, you could happily wear these for hours without discomfort) they decided to make the earpieces themselves independent of the headset proper. The result is an excellent sounding, comfortable product, but one which feels like a prototype model. Put them down too hard and you fear you might rip the flimsy wires holding the earpieces to the headset. Even the main wire is a flimsy affair, its almost a wonder the volume adjustor doesn't pull the wire out of the headset! In summary, a truly excellent product, but if you expect extended use from it, or are clumsier then a genetic scientist, it is probably worth looking elsewhere.
A Good Headset But............. January 10, 2005 Mr. S. J. Beverley (uk) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I play online games alot, and belong to a clan. So I wanted something that was going to last, and be durable. I was recomended this headset from a friend who is in the same clan as me,so I got one. To be honest it is very lightweight, being plastic I spose it would.Sound I found to be excellent, also the mic no problems with that at all.Sometimes I tend to be clumsy,so I am guilty of dropping it,and have pulled the wires sometimes. Either I am very lucky,or have a well made one,but it has not broken or come apart "YET". The only thing I would complain about is the build of the set. I would have very much prefered if the makers had reinforceed the head piece, say with a fine wire, also the ear piece where it is joined. Other than that I find this a good headset.
