Amazon.co.uk Review
Anyone looking to bring a little console feel to their PC should check out the Microsoft SideWinder Gamepad Pro. This sturdily constructed silver boomerang of a gamepad can endure many hours of healthy abuse and still supply quick and responsive controls.

One of the great things about the SideWinder series has always been the ergonomics of the joysticks, and the SideWinder Gamepad is no exception. The grip is comfortable, and the buttons and directional pad are all within thumb's reach. The USB interface makes setting up the gamepad a snap, and the SideWinder configuration software lets you set up your gamepad to operate differently for each game installed on your system with the SideWinder game profiles.

The SideWinder Gamepad Pro also includes a shift button, which allows you to program twice the amount of functions per button. About the only thing we didn't like about it was its D-pad design. It felt a little too mushy, and had a lack of tactility to it. It also had a tendency to wiggle around, causing our fingers to slip a bit. Other than that, we thought the SideWinder Gamepad was a winner, and a must-have for gamers everywhere. --Dan Simpson

5 out of 5 stars Best Pad   April 11, 2005

I have had this game pad for some years now and its the best I have ever used! The one i have now has just died but ive had it since they first came out and it has put up with a lot of stick in most places it is no longer the colour it was its gone through to the light gray plastic lol. Thinking of buying another but 49.99 seems alot for an old pad?

This pad does not support 2000/XP??? but I found XP finds the pad and all is fine

5 out of 5 stars Best gamepad around but do reduce the dead zone   January 17, 2003

This is the best gamepad around in my opinion. It is light, ergonomically designed and works brilliantly across the whole spectrum of gamepad compatible games from GTA3 to FIFA.

One thing though is the customer below is right about the default dead zone being too big. If you leave it at its default setting the pad is slightly unresponsive as the default is too big. However, the customer is wrong in saying that this is a terrible fault as the software installed when you install the gamepad allows you to adjust the dead zone. Once you have reduced the size of the dead zone slightly the pad is even better and is then truly the best gamepad around. Buy it.

5 out of 5 stars Review of Sidewinder Game pad pro   August 29, 2000

This pad is immence, it is very accurate, I'd second it only to the new sidewinder! Great value for money and adds a new dimension to your games by letting you hold the pad instead of fiddling with a keyboard!

The most unresponsive joypad I have ever had the displeasure of purchasing. I thought the idea of analogue is that if you tap the directional pad a little, you go in that direction, a little, but no, you have to press it harder than that. There is an unacceptable deadzone which makes playing racing games (and the likes) really difficult - think I wil lstick to my trusty original sidewinder.
