Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review:
In a nutshell:
Just like the movie, Boog the bear and Elliot the deer are just trying to get home, but there's an endless wilderness and an army of hunters in their way.

The lowdown:
There's not a movie worth its salt, particularly not a CGI kid's movie that would dare walk the merchandising catwalk without a video game adaptation. The problem is most of them aren't very good and despite some fun moments Open Season doesn't really do much to stand out from the crowd. What's annoying is that Boog actually has a number of interesting abilities, like throwing skunks as stun grenades and squirrels as nut firing gun turrets, but by the time you've unlocked them all it's almost the end of the game. This means for most of the time you're just carrying out dull fetch quests, which is fine for fans of the movie but won't be for everyone else.

Most exciting moment:
The most enjoyable sections of the game all revolve around impromptu chase sequences, with mine cart races, mountaintop escapes and a white water rapids ride down a river on the remains of an outside toilet.

Since you ask:
Another highlight of the game is a number of fun unlockable mini-games, including such unlikely tasks as competitive flower picking and log rolling, which you can also play in four-player mode with friends.

The bottom line:
One for fans of the movie only.- HARRISON DENT

5 out of 5 stars One Of The Most Easiest Games I've Played On The XBox 360 And Funny Too!   June 1, 2008

I don't actually own this game, but I actually rented it for about a week because it apparently had very easy achievements that could easily be unlocked. Well, the rumour indeed, is true.

In Open Season, you play as the main character Boog, a Grizzly Bear with a nice, polite and funny attitude who lives in Timberline with his owner Beth.
But one day, things don't go into plan as Boog meets a Deer with only one Antler called Elliot. At first Elliot is trapped on a car as he was about to be taken away and executed by one of the meanest hunters of all, Shaw. But Boog kindly released the Deer. Elliot didn't know that he was a pet and so broke into Boog's home and forced him to escape. Boog didn't want to leave, but Elliot supplied himself with some chocolate, which is Boog's favourite. They head into a town nearby and then they raided a corner shop grabbing all the goodies they could find. Unfortunately the police squad captured both of them and Beth had little choice but to release Boog into the wild. Boog, however, doesn't know the reason why and all that he wanted to do was to escape the wild and head back home. This is all well, but in reality his help is very needed in the wild as it's only a few days till Open Season and when Open Season comes, there will be no wild land left!

In Open Season you basically play the game as if you're watching the movie. The controls in the game are very simple and easy to understand. It is even possible a 3-5 year old child could easily finish this game. For me, I done it and got all the achievements in 2 days and I've never had so much fun in a childish game.

On the XBox 360 Version, the game has 46 Achievements in total, allowing you to get a total of 1000 Gamerscore Points. Most of the achievements are Secret Achievements but they are very easy and understandable to unlock.

My Personal Game Score: 9/10: Smashing, Groovy, Wonderful

My Wish: There is one, the game was fairly cheap. The game isn't worth 30- 40 as like I said before, you can finish the game in under a week. Most shops that I find which sell this game seem to sell it around that high price so I do wish for a price reduction on the game.

Final Comments: I wish I bought this game because I am really going to miss the part where Boog has to shake his bottom to get rid of the hedgehog. I won't say anymore on that bit. However, since the game is so easy to finish, there's not just any worth. Overall, I've enjoyed playing Open Season if you are after a game for your children or you want some super easy achievements for your GamerTag I highly recommending buying or renting Open Season.

I got this thinking it would be a game i would get bored with easily.
WRONG!!!!!!!

I was hooked on this between Christmas day and boxing day. Yes, that was only one day but i never put it down. The reason i did leave it was because i completed it. This is my only CRITICISM, it is extremely easy to complete and relatively short.

However, this game has a good story line, picture perfect graphics and very fun missions even if they are pretty easy. When you complete the game you can also complete mini missions and of course there are achievments to be unlocked to boost your 360 account.

This game is a great game, but beware, it will be completed easily, it is not for GTA/Tekken/Gun etc. lovers as it is based on a film for young-ish kids. Saying that most people would enjoy it.
