3 out of 5 stars Great for a 4 year old   October 22, 2007

I have a four year old son who is still mastering the controls of the Wii. The usual games that you can get for practising the Wii have boring graphics and he can't relate to them. However, with Shrek he totally loved playing it because the contols were easy and he loved being the knight and waving his sword around. If you are looking to get this for a teenager or adult then the other comments are correct. However, if you are wanting this as something you can play together with a toddler (my son enjoyed holding the controler and I held the Nunchuck for stearing) then I found it perfect. I haven't found a four year old that doesn't like Shrek and some of the jokes in it can be shared with all ages. I think that the voices are fine and do sound like the originals, especially Donkey. My son particularly enjoyed the fact that you are not always playing the same character. It was also nice to enjoy a game where we didn't have to download a walkthrough because it was easy enough to play without one!

1 out of 5 stars I wish this game would go Far-Far Away   August 6, 2007

The Shrek franchise is beloved and given its source material there is the potential to be quite a funny, enjoyable and entertaining video game. Unfortunatey this is not the case and this game, like most released based on a movie this is a shameless cashin.

Quite literally everything about this game is substandard, be it the terrible voice overs which arent even the cast of the movie (barring John Cleese), the short duration, the controls, the shoddy frame rate or the fact that its so basic that even my daughter (7) found it repetetive and boring (not to mention the "why doesnt it sound like Shrek,Donkey etc?" questions).

For what its worth the game has 20 levels with each level having around 3-5 quests in them. Its all very linear though and is just a matter of relentless and finger killing button mashing.

Pro's
Its shrek

Cons:
Shoddy voice over impersonations of the Shrek cast
Last gen Graphics
Slow down when muultiple characters get on screen
Short Duration
Nothing but button mashing (may strain young fingers)
No Co-Op play

If you are desperate for a Shrek fix i'd opt for Shrek 2 on the original Xbox. It is a better game and has 2 player co-op mode which improves upon the gameplay greatly, otherwise avoid this.

2 out of 5 stars absolute joke   June 23, 2007

this game is a disgrace, i had played it for about 4 hours when the credits came on saying it was finished. 24.99 for a 4 hour game is terrible. i would not recommend this game. the game play was fun and the graphics where not bad but the lenght is the thing that lets the game down.
