Beware drum kit failure!! January 9, 2009 N. JONES (Bristol UK) Great game, but the red drum pad isn't working. I got the midi cable from Red Octane's support site under the warranty, but increasing the sensitivity makes no difference, and I have a dead red drum pad which makes the drum part of the game unplayable. Beware that whilst Red Octane's warranty is 90 days, but Amazon's is a mere 30 days for faulty items - Red Octane told me to get a replacement for the faulty item from Amazon as they are the supplier. When I spoke to Amazon they told me they wouldn't normally deal with this over 30 days warranty but would make an exception, and because they are out of stock I have to return the entire bundle to get a refund. Alternatively they'll refund me 15 for the faulty drum kit and wash their hands of the situation!!!! The last option is for me to keep checking here for when the bundle is back in stock and then call them again to ask for a replacement. I'm seriously not impressed with Amazon on this - nor with the poor quality of the drum kit which has only been played 4 times!
The red drum strikes again January 8, 2009 Mr. K. D. James (UK) Well, the kids loved the game - and the adults too. It would have been totally perfect if it weren't for the red drum not working. After digging around on t'internet, it seems that this is a very common problem. So common, in fact, that Activision have a dedicated support line for it. Actually, so common that there aren't any replacements left anywhere. The Activision RMA site says "Sorry. Contact the seller." Amazon, to their credit, will replace asap. The problem being that asap is three to six weeks. I also have to find something to package the whole lot up in - as the original packaging got destroyed in the Christmas day excitement. So, all in all. Not hugely happy at the moment - especially for a 150 game.
Drum Problem January 2, 2009 Richard Jackson (UK) I got Guitar Hero World Tour (xbox 360) for Christmas and had a great time on Christmas day strumming away, however on Boxing day the red drum completely stopped working. I attempted to fix the drum using the activision download but this did not work so I am currently waiting for amazon to collect the item and send me out another. There is now a delay on the dispatch though of 4-6 weeks so I'm going to be waiting a while. The game it's self is great and by the sounds of things my drum problem is a one off but my advice would be to buy from a store where you can return the items immediately so you do not have to wait around should something similar happen again.
Worst sequel since Alien Resurrection... December 19, 2008 Maradin (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
As a fan of Guitar Hero 3, I was expecting good things for the sequel. Seeing the track listing I began to have doubts but then again, there are some quite good songs on the list. Unfortunately, the majority of songs are not only dull to hear, they're dull to play too. And the songs that are interesting and should have been great suffer from badly assembled track charts, meaning that notes simply weren't timed right (to the point that muting the TV improved performance on some songs). The track listing sounds like it has been selected by an emo sixteen year old with bad taste, to be frank, and it is much worse when you play bland cloned song after bland cloned song. On top of this, the career mode is rambling, long, and confusing. The difficulty settings appear to be entirely random, with the odd song being easier on hard than medium. I found myself bored of the game before I'd finished a career. Then there are the boss battles. These are just rubbish, to be honest - you don't really battle properly, you just play an easy part and get a reasonable percentage on it. And you have to fight a really terrible selection of bosses - Ted Nugent? Hayley Williams? Worryingly, these are the best of the bunch.
Stop Complaining December 13, 2008 Thomas Wilkes 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I think its funny that the people that have given this game 1 star are only complaining about the price and not the actual game!! This game is amazing. I have Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour and I can honestly say Guitar hero is better. Much more reactive and challenging than Rock Band 2. Also Guitar Hero World Tour has a better song list !! Guitar Hero FOR THE WIN!!
