5 out of 5 stars The next big franchise and the future of gaming!   November 14, 2008
Mitch
This game has everything I hope for in a good RPG Shooter it blurs the lines between the two with a breathtaking new franchise of games. This has to be one of the best games on the xbox 360 to date with The Elder Scrolls Oblivion coming a close second for me. If you played the Halo series for the story this game will blow you away. It has almost everything you could want in a game fully customisable characters, fully upgradeable weapons with hundreds of different permutations, the ability to progress through the story at your own pace and decide its outcome. The story progresses how you like it to with your choices affecting almost every aspect of game play. You can chose to be a saint or sinner while guiding a brilliantly A.I controlled team of 3 (Including you) of your choice to fight against brilliantly A.I. controlled enemies.

All in all one of the best games on the xbox 360 and with a trilogy in the works and who knows what after that Mass Effect will be around for a very long time to come and with good reason.

5 out of 5 stars Mass effect is like a film   August 17, 2008

Ok this game isn`t for people who just like shoot`em ups, there is a great story here and you do have to do a lot of talking to people. Graphically this game is fantastic and is like a movie at times especially on a 42" plasma. I haven`t suffered that much with the game freezing and slow down. The story in this game is that good that i really think someone could either make a film from it or even a series preferably a series. If you have the patience then you will enjoy it.

4 out of 5 stars Stick with it you will love it.   August 17, 2008

This game is not for everyone, my dad just can't get on with it, but i love it and here's why. Its got a great story!! The problem and i think why you get some negative reviews is it starts with a bang, alien planet lots of shooting quite exciting, but when you return home for the first time there is a lot of talking to characters and sub missions to do to allow the story too unfold, sometimes at this point it isn't exactly obvious what you have to do. This is a role playing game so completing this backdrop allows you to build up some key character attributes. Once you get past this and fly back out into space the pace picks up and stays that way, the story sucks you in and you have to see how it ends. Graphically suberb, easy to use control system but hard to master (especially how to use all your special abilities) but thats what makes it fun. Your gonna need some patience but you will be rewarded for it in the end.

3 out of 5 stars I liked it because i like KOTOR!   July 30, 2008

I got this game a week ago and am throughly addicted! i'm a big fan of adventure type games and even more of a fan of games where you have different dialog choices that can influence the game e.g. KOTOR, Fable etc.

Visually i wasnt that impressed - the charactors are pretty well animated but the backgrounds are not so good i thought. I had to pump the brightness on my telly right up to be able to see what was going on.

I liked the fact that you can read about different alien species etc as the game unfolds - in the journal type section. It made you get more involved in the story.

I'm barely a quarter of the way through but enjoying it. Its another cracking space adventure story.

p.s i also liked the fact you can choose your difficulty options - i am one of those people who gets bored very easily if a game is too hard. Particulary if it involves too much shooting and fighting - so i liked the fact i can play in 'easy' mode.

2 out of 5 stars You can't go where you want?   July 25, 2008

Hi, I didn'r really understand this game apparently, on the back it says you can explore the universe and visit uncharted worlds etc as Commander Shepard. This I took to mean you could do what you liked - but I played the game and i couldn't do what I liked! I had to perform tasks that involved going to a certain place and saying a certain thing to a certain person and doing a certain job for them. That's no fun for me because I do that at work every day, I don't need to do jobs for people in my spare time as well! I thought it was all about exploring the universe and having fights but it's about doing jobs in a linear fashion so that's why it gets my thumbs down unfortunately. I only played it once and traded it in, it's basically a platform game that you can only play one way, not an RPG as advertised. I'm aware that I must have missed the point...
