4 out of 5 stars Thank god they released this on PS2!   January 5, 2009

I had the opportunity of playing this on the Wii console not long after it came out and had great fun jammin' with a mate and my girlfriend. So i sprung for my own copy on the PS2 which saved me a pretty penny as i was only expecting a PS3 version, a console i don't have and don't want. So knowing that i could just dust-off my PS2 and get rockin' was awesome!

I completed the game in easy mode on Boxing Day, the day after i got it and am now battling my way through the more advanced levels which is keeping the fun alive.

At first some of the songs were alien to me but i soon found myself downloading loads of the songs from the setlist to my I-pod so that i could take GH3 with me and 'air-guitar' as i walked to work.

However some of the songs then got old and became more annoying to play than entertaining, hence the 4-star rather than 5-star rating, but that's the joy of guitar hero, once you've got the 'axe' and the basic skills, the next version and it's new setlist become a must have (i've already ordered GH4:World Tour).

Overall, it's a great game if you're on your own, even better if you're with mates and top marks when you're with drunk mates. Awesome for parties and as the new Kramer guitar breaks apart at the neck it's fairly easy to transport around to various party spots and mate's houses.

BUY THIS AND EVERY OTHER GUITAR HERO!!! Rock On!

Be prepared for the controllers motion sensor to just stop working at random times and then to pack up completely, i took it back, didnt get another, as i put the money towards a ps3, but the same thing happened on my mates xboc 360 version and it seems its happened to quite a few people, dodgy motion sensors.

5 out of 5 stars such fun   October 2, 2008

I got guitar hero 3 plus guitar for my birthday in April and I am still playing it now. The guitar has a real feel to it but is so much easier to play than a real one (until you get to expert). Anyone can pick it up, do the tutorial , then play it to their hearts content. I did not know many of the songs when I got it but a lot of them are now among my favorite tracks. The graphics on the ps2 are brilliant so the guitarist on the screen really looks like they are playing the song. If you buy two guitars you have lots of additional game options I have bought rock band now but I still play guitar hero a lot. A great game for all ages ( i am in my 40's)

hi. i would like to ask u a question... what do u mean by "only 8 songs"?! i bought this game this summer and i haven't played all the songs yet..
u start out with 4 songs. to get more you'll have to complete at least 3 of those songs in career mode + 1 encore. after that you'll gt 4 new songs on the list. complete 3 of the new songs + 1 encore to get 4 more etc. etc..
and in the end you'll end up with 40+ songs on the list.. (bonus songs not included)
when finish a song in career mode you'll earn money. use the money to buy new song and other stuff...

so the buttom line of this would be that there's not 8 songs, but 70+ songs to play...

c ya later ..... and remember to rock!!

5 out of 5 stars Cool! Fun and some decent songs.   August 26, 2008

Wow! This is the best PS2 Game ever!

When I first played the game I was rubbish but now I have the postions memorised so I can play really well on Easy. The guitar is light and a reasonable size so it is easy to learn. The gameplay involves looking at the screen and pressing the right buttons, for example a green circle means you press the green button. So it's very basic.

The graphics are pretty good, 3D and fast. The clothes for the people are a bit wierd but I like them. I was expecting all the people to be male but to my pleasant surprise there are quite a few girls. I'm a girl and a lot of games aimed at boys that I buy have NO girls. This game is good for both genders. Yay!

The songs are mostly from the 60's and 70's but threre are a few up to date ones. A few. But, I like most of them after a bit. I tend to prefer songs from now. I love the Guitar Battles in Career mode. Especially Slash from Guns n Roses. Also against Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine and Lou, who I think is a fictional person. After beating him you become "A Rock Legend" which is cool.

I've never tried Multiplayer because we don't have another guitar but it looks fun.

The only down side is the guitar costs loads. But once you've saved up for a year it's ok.

All in all it's a brilliant game so BUY IT! It's addictive, it's cool and in general, great. Get out there and play.

You Rock!
