Great Ironing but.... August 28, 2008 R. Javeri (Kent, UK) Great Ironing ,BUT it leaks water in spurts! Halfway through ironing it would give a sneeze and spurt out gobs of water on my clothes! Am commencing a return as I write this. Cant have irons leak onto clothes, now cant I?
Good but not great August 10, 2008 Mr H (London, England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Philips have a very good product here. The GC4444 is a sturdy iron that has all the usual settings on a standard Philips steam iron plus a better self cleaning mechanism and an improved steam system. I have been using this for many months now and it only ever tends to struggle with 100% cotton that is very dry and wrinkled. For the most part this is a very good iron and takes care of the toughest of creases. The regular steam function also performs well and lasts quite a while once the iron's tank is loaded to the maximum with water. The thing that lets it down is the much hyped Ionic Deep Steam system. That is very much a gimmick and simply does not do anything. Also if you do not use the correct temperature settings the iron can drip water. Despite these minor problems, this is a good product and definitely worth considering if you are in the market for a dependable iron.
Ironing made easy August 2, 2008 Mrs. S. Edwards (Bucks, England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Philips Azur Premium GC4444 Steam Iron with Ionic DeepSteam 2400WGot the GC4444 iron a month ago and to date I could not be happier with it. I have found ironing to be much easier with a perfect finish on my ironing. My previous iron was the BOSCH Power iron, which occasionally stuck to clothes, needed refilling after ironing every 3/4 adult shirts and the plate required regular cleaning. It also only lasted 18 months from new before it gave up completely. In relation to all the negative points I've made re the Bosch, I have found the Philips GC4444 to be the complete opposite (will have to wait and see if we get passed the 18 month stage). I have found that I can iron double the amount of shirts (6/7) before having to refill, it has not discharged any residue or stuck to any clothes and I have not had to clean the soleplate once (absolutely no marks on it). I have found that it does glide over whatever item I am ironing and requires alot less effort to iron out creases. It has definitely reduced my ironing time (always good!) The protective cover when finished ironing is very useful, particularly when leaving it to cool. I am happy to recommend this iron as a very good buy.
Does the job really well June 16, 2008 J. K. Raffan (Scotland) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I wouldn't say I know much about ironing, and I've never particularly liked doing it, but I decided to replace our old steam iron with this one and I have been really impressed. I find it makes a much better job of the ironing, so I get through it quicker. The steam seems to take out all the creases. I have only tried the ionic steam once so far(on a pair of jeans) and it really worked well. It is easy to fill and not too heavy to hold. The protective cover for the hotplate is useful too. I also like the fact that you can adjust the steam.
WELL WORTH THE MONEY June 7, 2008 Mrs. P. Greenhalgh (Preston, England) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Just replaced my old Morphy Richards with this Iron, as it is the most I have spent on an iron... I have to say, it is well worth the money. It glides over any cloth, is a good weight, with lots of steam and a large plate. The 3 metre lead is great as I have a large ironing board. The Linen I have (trousers etc)ironed with ease, as did well-dry jeans and synthetics. Overall, Could not be happier...ironing is a breeze with this wonderful iron!
