4 out of 5 stars Heads up punk fans, No Motiv rock!!   June 14, 2001

The best thing about being a fan of this whole punk/emo/hardcore thing is the amount of new and differing bands that the scene produces. In 'Diagram for Healing' No Motiv offer 13 slices of well-written emotive punky rock. Opening gambit 'Celebrate' offers the listener a speedy adrenaline rush of minor chords and a chorus that defies you not to sing along. As with most of this album this song will not leave your head for days. However, No Motiv are not afraid to slow things down a little and experiment with more relaxed tempos and ringing guitar chords. My only gripe is that the last few tracks do not live up to the high standard set by the rest of the album. The closest similarities to this band I can think of would be Sensefield (although this album is not quite up there with my fave emo album, Sensefields' 'building'!) or a slightly more downbeat version of The Ataris, but anyone into this whole emo scene or anyone needing a brief respite from the 100mph beats of new punk, will enjoy this album.
