It's an idea that works but it's only got ONE idea and that idea has been known for aeons.. October 12, 2007 Silver Moon Sailor (Northumberland uk) Maybe Heartmath theory could be a bridge to concepts lke chakras and energy bodies for the scientistically handicapped. But it's 101 stuff for anyone who has any experience with spiritual healing. The worst thing about this book though, is how it spins out one good idea across dozens of pages. It's a lumpy, boring and badly written brochure for the rest of Heartmath empire's products. If you want to know the secret of heartmath it can be explained in detail on one side of A4. Maybe some kind soul who has suffered the purgatory of reading the book would do that for you.
Readable and practical September 14, 2004 Andy Smith (Manchester, United Kingdom) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Highly readable and stuffed full of scientific backup about how the heart, brain and emotions interact and affect our health. Contains three tried and tested techniques for enhancing Emotional Intelligence which you can have fun applying NLP to and improving. Docked one star for using the word 'try' in the instructions for the exercises (which implies you won't be able to do them).
Practical, easy and very positive exercises. August 28, 2001 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have found that the exercises in this book are very practical and easy to do. The reading around the subject of emotional intelligence is also very up to date. Doing the exercises has already made a positive impact on my life and reminds me of the very positive healing aspect of meditation. I have done a lot of reading in the area of emotional intelligence and it is nice to come across a book that has such a practical application of all the research in the area.
Stressed-out, frustrated with work, life,...? Get this book January 26, 2001 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
This book contains practical, straightforward techniques to help you control stress, frustration, anger and other adverse emotions. The techniques really do work and don't take lots of practise or effort. In doing so they provide a way to help you deal with your problems in a more positive way and increase your happiness and general wellbeing. If you lead a busy, stressful life and want to be happier without sacrificing your productivity then this title comes highly recommended!
Extremely useful personally and professionally. June 16, 1999 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This book is a synthesis of all I have learned, known, and intuited throughout my 30 years in the mental health field, including over 20 years as a psychotherapist. The material is presented in a concise, readable manner, and the HeartMath exercises are simple and easily learned, especially Freeze Frame. I am personally utilizing the Freeze Frame and Cut-Through exercises and am amazed at how quickly one gets to the"heart" of feelings, problems, etc. Although I have been a meditator for 17 years, the methods described in this book have opened up new and creative aspects of myself. My clients have experienced equally exciting and insightful results. I would unqualifiedly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in stress reduction, better health, personal growth, and a more peaceful way of being in this increasingly complex and fast-paced culture.
