Why did I buy this? June 7, 2004 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
Unloco are a generic, angsty nu-metal outfit from texas. Like their counterparts on the nu-metal scene, they seem to have a lot of anger which is directed at nothing in particular, and use the same tired phrases as TRUSTcompany, Shinedown, InMe etc to describe it.Song titles such as Useless, Face Down, Less of, and Nothing really tell you a lot about the band and the CD. Musically, there isn't a single original idea on the whole album. Every song somehow reminds me of another song, and the production has smoothed out the album, so that it all sounds the same. The first song "Useless", is the least bad of them, and I can listen to it. Otherwise, this is utter dross from start to finish.
Very impressive rockin debut album December 15, 2001 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Unloco are a band that should be up there. The intricate detail that polishes their chunky riffs and golden vocals makes them one of the bands to look out for in 2002. With such amazing choruses as in Useless and Clean, Face Down, the best song on the album, and Panic give you such a strong sense of capitulation, and loneliness, but the album still invigorates with tight beats and rockin' bass and guitars. Jose's vocal style in many respects is pretty unique. His melodies, screams and dry lung power add an impressive balance to these great songs. Respect to the God-fearin Unloco. Peace Out. A.
FANTASTIC ! May 7, 2001 adam@image.karoo.co.uk (Hull, UK) This albumn is sheer brilliance, i bought it a while ago now but i still listen to it everyday on my paper round (bloody paper rounds). It is extremely catchy (like the best band ever, Deftones!)and i insist you buy it. This band diserves the stature of bands like Deftones, Tool, Disturbed, RATM etc....
Sounds Damn Good April 6, 2001 adam@image.karoo.co.uk (Hull, UK) I have listened to this albumn loads now and it makes u want to go back for more !It is a great blend of mellow metal and hard metal (not as hard as heavy metal tho). the four guys have put together a great albumn containing great lyrics and fantastic sounds. If u like Deftones, RATM, Tool etc... u will probably like this albumn.
