A pure vocal treat July 4, 2002 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This has got to be the best album I have ever purchased. I picked it up because I recognised her name from the Zero 7 album. It took a couple of plays to get used to it, but now it is a CD I don't get tired of listening to. A superb blend of haunting vocals and varied music styles, with a track for every mood. I can't wait for her next release.
Disappointing March 9, 2002 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
After hearing Sia incredibly emotive voice on Zero Seven's album, Simple Things, i immediately purchased 'Healing is Difficult'only to discover another mish-mash of half baked RnB songs and abstract fill-ins masquarading as an album. I have made several attempts to 'get into' this album and have actually failed on most occasions to listen to end of it. Sia is obviously hugely talented judging by her grasp of the song 'Distractions' (Zero Seven), its just a real pity very little of it is shown here. If like me you just crave great music played with immense passion..avoid this album.
"Healing is difficult" but the music is fab! November 26, 2001 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Honestly, I only got into Sia Furler's music because of her striking vocals on Zero 7's summer hit "Destiny" - and also on the remix version of "Drink to get drunk" which I heard on holiday. But now, I have to say that this artist really does deserve to be as rich and famous as she blimmin' well likes, because the end result is a truly wonderful, edgy production with a distinctive energy, but her voice is just superb. It's a good album, a really good album. And you will grow to treasure it frighteningly quickly. I did!
Sublime, Moving and worth a listen August 17, 2001 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This album ranks as one of my top albums of all time. Without a doubt, Sia is a talent to be watched (or listened to). When I heard her single 'Taken For Granted', I expected the album to be a smooth pop release, but am glad to say I was wrong. This album encompasses Jazz, RnB and Soul with loads of class! Also worth pointing out that Sia is guest vocalist on the Zero 7 album
Sublime vocals from a truly talented singer-songwriter July 30, 2001 baldkod@netscape.net (London) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Maybe I'm getting old, but talentless peroxide blonde Californian teenagers in school uniforms aren't my idea of what music is about. The sublime vocals of Sia are like a breath of fresh air in the post-MTV world of popular music. Calling this an R'n'B album is far too narrow a definition. The variety of sounds and styles that her voice lends itself to, further underlines what a special talent this woman is. I've introduced a variety of people to this album, and they've all been blown away. A star in the making? I certainly hope so.
