Protects our precious PC August 25, 2008 BusyReader (Midlands UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I passed this on to my husband - as the IT 'expert' in our home for him to install and give his opinions. In his opinion it is easily installed, instructions are clear , and it seems to be compatible with Windows XP which we are runnning. He says that it is a superior product to Norton - which I know we have had problems with over the past few years. The Firewall is easily customised and the Spam Filter had weeded out useless unwanted emails selling drugs and pleasure enhancing 'toys' easily and links well with Outlook and Yahoo. I feel we may have changed our alliegence over to Bullguard from Norton.
Fantastic product that rivals other market leaders August 22, 2008 I. Clarke (Lancashire) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This product is an all in one internet security package. It is very easy to install. The set up is simple and can easily be tailored to your personal requirements. When I ran the computer scan it found several tracking cookies that my previous computer virus software package did not previously locate. I would recommend Bullguard to anyone who is looking for a simple to use thorough internet security package.
Excellent value for money, and very easy to use August 22, 2008 Josh W 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This does anti virus software, anti spyware, firewall, spamfilter, and online backup. Appears to be excellent value for money, comes with a clear and easy to understand manual, and the spam filter and online backup could be useful, especially as you get 5gb (!) of online storage. The online backup could in fact be one of the most appealling features of this software as it provides full scheduling, some advanced options, such as keeping different versions of files, and allows you to compress the backup and even encrypt it with a passphrase. So, 3 PCs backed up online for 17, sounds like a complete bargain to me. The anti virus software scan seems quite quick, found a virus inside an email that avast didn't, and unlike some other software doesn't slow the PC down even on a fairly low spec Windows XP laptop. The software seems very easy to use, with a clear and logical user interface. The software comes up with a warning about not passing Windows Logo certification, but you can continue to install anyway, and I haven't had any problems as a result. Bullguard have this to say about it: "IMPORTANT! During the installation of version 8.0 you may encounter 2 notifications from Windows (see below). These will tell you that some BullGuard components have not passed the Windows Logo compatibility test. To continue the installation, just press Continue Anyway until these messages disappear. The reason behind this is that some new components in BullGuard are still undergoing certification with Microsoft. However please rest assured that they will not affect the stability and functionality of your computer in any way."
Not a good start... August 21, 2008 Mr. N. W. Blackford (London, UK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bullguard Internet Security boasts Antivirus, Antispyware, Firewall, Spamfilter, Backup and Support capabilities. I've always found the idea of software such as Bullguard Internet Security reassuring, but there are lots of reasons why I've never gone out and purchased such a product before (they're usually very expensive, gobble up RAM and make starting up your machine a bit of an ordeal). My machine is a laptop, it's about 4 years old and runs Windows XP pretty well (which this software is designed for) - unfortunately, after a rather long installation process I was given the following error message: "The software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP. Continuing your installation of this software may impair or destabilize the correct operation of your system either immediately or in the future. Microsoft strongly recommends that you stop this installation now and contact the software vendor for software that has passed Windows Logo testing". Windows Logo testing ensures that software doesn't harm your machine, software that brings up messages like the one above can be capable of causing damage to your system and open your machine to all sorts of problems (including viruses)! I didn't want to go ahead with the installation (even though I was given to option to continue) after reading this and was shocked that software that looked so capable would conflict with Windows so badly and bring up such a worrying message.
