Has a bug under VIsta September 3, 2008 P. Moody (UK) Be aware this product has a bug that sometimes appears running under Vista. At boot up the product will come up with Intrusion detection turned off. The "My Network" summary shows this as a fault as well. Tell it to fix the problem and intrusion detection will be turned on. The network summary still shows a fault. Manually turn off intrusion protection then use Fix to turn it back on and the network summary now shows green. The Norton web site notes this behaviour as a corrupt installation and tells you to de-install and re-install. Apparently this causes all sorts of issues. On one of the Norton sponsored 360 V2 forums they admit that this behaviour is caused by a bug and they are working on a fix. They have been working on this fix since July and they don't think it will be ready until early or mid September. I haven't found anything else wrong. The product itself is designed for the average computer user who just one peace of mind that their machine is being protected. The interfaces and controls are dumbed down considerably compared to the standard anti-virus. I think it's designed to be installed and forgotten about until it finds a threat.
360 August 28, 2008 Ms. S. J. Smith (UK) this version of norton really slowed down my computer and took a lifetime to install. It lasted about 6 hours on my computer and i could cope no longer so removed it and put kaspersky on instead. would probably work better on a dualcore system
Slows your computer down August 21, 2008 Ben Stephenson (Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland) It is a fairly good product, however it slows down your computer. I installed the program on a high-end 3.5 ghz P4 processor, yet my start up is ever so slow. I would recommend Kaspersky which I have also received through the Vine program as a much better product. Apart from this, Norton is fairly easy to install, and in my opinion is foolproof. Thus, for novice users not running too many programs on their desktops/laptops, this may be a more viable option.
Pretty good on Vista, Could be better for XP August 21, 2008 Ash Udimion I quite liked this software as it is easy to use and pretty effective in providing all round cover for my PC and laptop. The only slight problem I have is how different it runs on XP. On Vista it is a breeze. It slows it down slightly but then every single one of the market will do that. It is easy to use, takes minimal maintainence and will get on with the job quietly and efficiently. On XP it is slightly more cumbersome and needs more promptly and coercing into doing its job. It still provides all round cover but it takes a bit longer for it to get going, it slows it down a bit more then the other Norton products I've used in the past and it tends to have a few hiccups every now and then. All in all this is a great Anti-Virus and all round PC Securtiy programme. I've tried a few different ones over the years but I always come back to Norton as they always seem to be the most user friendly and offer me greater reassurance that it is looking after everything. I've had some terrible problems with the likes of McAfee and AVG but Norton is still there plodding along doing its job. Yes it slows down your system slightly and pops up every so often to notify you of something you already knew but this Norton is pretty good speed-wise and offers a lot of protection at a pretty decent price.
Excellent Piece August 17, 2008 S. Naguleswaran (UK) Provides excellent internet security, free updates, user friendly and more and more features... Easy to install even though it takes some more time than the previous product. But it covers more area and therefore it overcomes that deficit. It gives maximum security and I highly recommend this product. I actually purchased the version 1 nearly 7 months back but recently it has been upgraded free to version 2 by Norton! ...Great news!!
