more trouble than it's worth January 10, 2006 john sporle (chelmsford, essex United Kingdom) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
i owned the 2002 version and had no problems. however this version has caused me problem after problem. my computer has now crashed and i believe it is due to this version with the anti virus programme having to be re-installed on many occassions. i will not be using this software again. it is more trouble than it's worth! back to avg free anti virus for me.
Norton Systemworks 2005 is amazing. March 28, 2005 L. J. Clark (United Kingdom) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
Well I can see there are some who don't think that this is a good product but I disagree completely. I believe that all PC's and Laptops are different. I installed this product on my tiny averatec notebook and it has completely transformed my system. I have a 60 GB notebook that is tiny but powerful and I thought at first that such a small laptop might not be able to handle a biggy like norton systemworks premier but I was wrong. speed disk in norton utilities has made my notebook work faster on programs and startup, everything has been good ever since I have had this brilliant pieace of software. I had already installed norton internet security 2005 on my notebook so I thought that this would go well with the internet security and it has. both programs work together like partners and have, as I said before transformed my notebook completely. I highly recommend this product to anyone with an XP PC or laptop. I think that this software won't work for everybody but for the lucky computers that work well with it it should transform your average PC or Laptop into a super computer and I garantee that.
Wouldn't install properly on my PC. February 4, 2005 Mr. Nicholas Midgley (Lancaster UK) 10 out of 16 found this review helpful
I've been using Systemworks 2003 on my machine for 3 years now, and while it's not always the most co-operative software, the pros have usually outweighed the cons so I've stuck with it. I decided to upgrade to the 2005 Premier version and now wish I hadn't bothered. I've tried 4 times to install it on my PC, and each time it's failed, all for different reasons (usually a missing component). It wouldn't be so bad, but just doing a standard "uninstall" wouldn't work either, necessitating a laborious, time-consuming, complete manual uninstall, before attempting a re-install. To make matters worse, every time I try to shut down my pc now, it now crashes. Thank you Symantec!I've spent 3 precious evenings beating my brains out trying to get this software to co-operate, and I'm giving up. There's alternative software which causes far fewer headaches, hogs far fewer resources and costs far less than 54. Sorry Symantec, you've lost another previously loyal customer.
No problems here January 14, 2005 Taffy Man (UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Having used Norton Systemworks for serveral years I find this version the best yet, I have it running on both my main system and my laptop with no problems, everything is running perfect. I highly recommend this. Thumbs Up from me...
A waste of 54 October 28, 2004 35 out of 45 found this review helpful
I principally bought this for Norton Ghost 9.0 and have had to de-install this as a process Pqv2iSvc.exe consumes up to 90% of CPU resources for hours after the backup (incremntal ot full) is done slowing the computer to a halt and making it unusable. The suggested solution, apart from being arrogant in impying that nothing but Norton is worth running on your computer, did not work. 54 wasted on Crapware. The last time I buy from Norton.
