Small and dry September 8, 2008 darthminogue 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Okay, I've just come back from Bestival where it poured. In fact, it was awful. I didn't have wellies, so had to spend the weekend with wet feet, and I was really worried that as I only spent 12 on my tent I was going to have wet everything else as well. Fortunately, this tent kept everything dry, and even condensation wasn't too bad. I bought it specifically for this and am really glad I did. Of course, if there's more than one of you, you'll need something bigger, and if you're much over six foot then this isn't for you at all (I'm 5'11" and had to sleep on an angle), but if you're not too tall and need something basic, I don't think you can go past it
Waterproof but the porch broke August 19, 2008 Ms. Fl Malpass (West Mids, England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this specifically for a festival and as it was my first time camping I didn't want to get something that looked complicated. I'd practiced setting it up beforehand so it went up extremely easily, but about half an hour after I'd put it up I head my friend tell me that it was broken. The porch pole had snapped, going through the fabric holder bit. While it meant I could still use my tent it meant the door/flaps were right up against the main door of the tent so when it rained I had to crawl through those first when they were soaking wet. Not the easiest thing to do. It was extremely waterproof however. There was torrential rain about three nights of my stay and while a lot of people's cheaper tents let the rain in there were no such problems here. For a two man tent it was also just big enough for me on my own with all my stuff in it. Taller people might have an issue with it as it just about fit me and I'm about 5'6.
Breacon Beacons/ minus temperatures BEATER! December 20, 2007 Mr. J. E. Fournier (UK London) 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
We (as a family) go on a camping trip each year to the breacon beacons. Normally we go in the easter and normally have good weather so i bought this tent. This year we had torrential rain for the entire week. With even snow for two days. However the tent saved the trip,IT DIDNT LEAK ONCE. EVERYTHING INSIDE WAS DRY AND WARM!!! It did save the holiday as had it leaked we would have been forced to return home. The beauty of this tent is that it has a porche area so what i did when it was raining was to cook from inside my sleeping bag with the cooker in the open porche area!! OK, i'll admit i would go up everest with this tent, but for the family trips its perfect because its LIGHT , very easy to put up (5 mins)and very very weather resistant. Happy Camping.
Turtle power!!! September 10, 2007 C. Eastwood 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I bought this tent direct from Sports HQ. Having never opened it we took it to Italy assuming that it wouldn't rain. When I opened it I thought there had been a mistake. "Where's the second sheet?". Then I check the bag again and find a A4 sized patch of material that goes on top. "Is this a joke?". It had us in stitches for ages. Anyway my last comment was "at least we're testing it out in Italy and not in Scotland". What a mistake. The heavens opened about an hour later and lashed down much harder than it does in Scotland. It was biblical. Anyway, the Turtle (our nickname for it) survived to tell the tale completely intact. Two day later it was even worse with huge hail stones. Once again it passed with flying colours. This tent is very light (hence us being able to carry it in our suitcase) and very easy to put up and take down. It's waterproof and sturdy. It's not perfect. It's too short and I would advise against people above 5ft 10" buying this tent. And you do wake up with condensation when it's hot because it's not very breathable. But for 7 it's unbeatable.
