1 out of 5 stars Wish there was a NO star option   November 18, 2008

I have had this for 4 days and still can't calibrate it, before you ask I can count to 100 which is more than this pedometer can. The readings varied between 180 & 140 on average. On one attempt I did get it to 104 so I thought OK, about 1/2 hour later on my walk I thought I'd just check it was still somewhere near accurate - I counted 500 but when I checked the readout it said I'd done 873. I've tried every day so far but no joy, today after counting 1400 steps trying to get it right, I thought it would be easier to count the whole walk and so put it in my pocket. (Yesterday it said I did nearly 8000 at work - this would have been very impressive but I sit at a desk most of the day!!!)

4 out of 5 stars Still puzzled   June 13, 2008

Got mine this week, and had no trouble setting it up. I found that if I set the sensitivity to Minus, it was accurate enough. However, I'm still completely puzzled by "Aerobic steps". I have no idea how it calculates them, and I'd love to know. I think the calorie burn it gives is on the low side.

Very simple to set up, very accurate and small enough to be very discreet when worn, happy walking!

4 out of 5 stars Seems ok so far!   March 24, 2008

I Bought one for my wife after reading the mainly positive reviews. Generally easy to use, but I agree with the other comments made about setting it up from the instructions. We have had two previous pedometers, by different manufactures, both of which were far from straightforward to use. On that basis the Omron scores well.

The perceived quality is cheapish - hard, thin plastic. The display is nice and clear and basic function displays are stepped through with ease. I always think that a well designed product should be intuitive to use and this comes close (once it's been set up for the first time).

Accuracy is an issue with one reviewer, however, we have compared it to a measured route off an OS Map and it came out to within about 1/10 mile over roughly 6 miles. I rate that as very impressive given the latitude for initial set-up error. Based on these observations I would recommend one.

1 out of 5 stars Wildly Inaccurate   February 18, 2008

I spent an hour trying to calibrate this, and never got it within 30-40 steps of being accurate over 100 steps. Utterly worthless to me.
