Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The Medicarn Door Bar Pull Up Gym is not your average pull up bar, it has central, close grip handels that allow you to position your hands to face each other as you pull, isolating and exercising the muscles within the middle of your back that help build size, fitness and strength while conditioning the primary muscles responsible for keeping the spine erect for better all-day posture. Nothing on the market offers this variety of hand positions for a more thorough back workout that's never boring. If you think that's the only reason why the Medicarn Door Bar Pull Up Gym has been given rave reveiews on amazon, you would be wrong as there's much more to appreciate. The Medicarn Door Bar Pull Up Gym also allows you to do deep push-ups by placing it on the floor giving exercise to most area's of the body from your legs, abs, shoulders and arms making the Medicarn Door Bar Pull Up Gym the perfect partner for a complete workout! The Medicarn Door Bar Pull Up Gym is designed to fit almost any residental inside door frame from 24" to 32" and supports up to 300lbs.

3 out of 5 stars Get what you pay for.   December 2, 2008
Mr. A. K. Downs (kent, uk)
This door gym is a great concept. Unfortunately cause its mass produced, i had to redrill the last hole for the bolts to hold it together, i thought it was me, but no. Hopefully, the bar that hooks over the top of the door frame and takes all the weight will sit flat, eventually. I see why they've included the metal hooks, to take the stress off the top of weak door frames. But these hooks are really too small to hold the weight of anyone, mainly cause they've got four holes each with tiny screws and tiny raw plugs. Also, would you really want to drill into the door lintel? Potentially reducing the strength of it, which you are hanging off?
Type of thing to see before you buy, even if you pay more for it. But then for 20, can you complain?

1 out of 5 stars Highly Misrepresented   December 2, 2008
Mr. R. J. Cranham (London, Walthamstow)
This 'door' bar is not really a door bar at all as it attaches to the wall above your door. This really needs to be advertised a bit more clearly. It says it doesn't leave any marks on your door frame, which is true, but you have to drill holes in your wall above the door and if you're living in rented accomodation this is something that your lordlard generally won't let you do. Further to this the parts are very loose when fit together as the bolts do not do all the way up. I was really let down when I received this.

4 out of 5 stars Too wide for my door   October 13, 2008
Steven Pawinski (Leeds, UK)
Just a word of warning for anybody living in a Victorian back to back terrace house - I do, and its way too wide for my door frame! It looks a decent piece of equipment, and seems to get very good reviews, which is why I've given it 4 stars, but sadly I can't use it. :(

5 out of 5 stars Great product!!!   August 27, 2008

This is a great product. I was sent the P90X which is the more famous brand name version widely advertised in the USA. Assembled in minutes and was very easy to hook up onto the doorway. Comes with J brackets but I haven't installed these as I would rather not drill holes above my doorway. Feels very secure even without these brackets as long as you are sensible and don't swing about on it!
Does what it describes and is a much better product than the twisting pole you get get from the high street stores!

5 out of 5 stars This item is the nuts!   August 17, 2008

I ordered this on a friday, and recieved it the following tuesday from amazon. I'm absolutely crap at chin-ups/pull-ups, and this is the perfect solution for learning. At the moment i'm doing hangs, at full-extension, half-extension, and full chin-up level. I'm also jumping into full chin-up level and lowering myself as slowly as i can. These will all enable me to eventually do full pull-up/chin-ups. I cannot rate this highly enough. Although this product does come with brackets to screw in above the door frame, as of yet i still have not put these in. I definitely would advise using these brackets for safety reasons, as if this does ever slip of the door frame i could see myself having an injury.

But to be honest i've been using it without the brackets for over a week, and as long as i check the positioning each time, i know that my own body-weight keeps the bar in place, and i fully trust the device. Again i do intend to install the brackets tommorow, and would advise everyone to do the same.
