I had a supposed laser measuring instrument previously, which although it used a laser to cast a spot on the wall, it actually used a sonic beam -- absolutely useless. Anything in the vicinity of the line of sight would cause major errors.
With the Skil device, one can measure into a deep, narrow, hole if you so wish. It is a true laser measurement, and the spot is where you measure.
It is instant in use, no time is involved when the button is pressed. It can do a single length, area or volume measurement of a room in under a minute, using the M,M2 or M3 buttons to automatically do the sums. There are also buttons which enable differential or additive measurements - M+ and M-. And everything can be done in metres or feet. On top of all that, the package is reassuringly solid. I dropped mine from a ladder (3m) and thought it would be a gonner, but no damage apart from one corner remodelled.
It is really 'spot-on'!!
