Amazon.co.uk Review Manufacturers Recommended Age: 3 and over. 2xAA batteries required (not included) Tracy Island, the secret base of International Rescue, is brought to life in this "soundtech" replica. With its cliff-top venue, hiding the Thunderbird vehicles beneath a swimming pool that slides away and a secret hanger with a launch pad lined with palm trees that fall to one side when Thunderbirds 2 is ready for launch, children will soon discover the endless possibilities for the Thunderbirds crew as they fight evil and save lives in the danger zones of the world. A panel tucked away at the back of the island reveals the faces of the main Thunderbirds characters--Lady Penelope, Brains, Scott, Alan, Gordon and Virgil--with a key pad to press to hear a selection of 12 of the most famous Thunderbirds phrases, including the particularly spectacular "Stand by for blast off" with a loud, crackling blast off sound that beats the rest hands down. Tracy Island comes complete with stickers, which bring the otherwise rather plasticky effect of the Island to life, and with the addition of the Thunderbirds vehicles will give fans endless scope to let their imaginations run wild: Thunderbirds are well and truly go. (Thunderbirds vehicles and figures are sold separately).-- Susan Harrison.

Bring The Tunderbirds To Life! April 25, 2004 no1filmaddict (UK) 25 out of 26 found this review helpful
It was about nine years ago now that i was given this toy for Christmasone year and i can remember just how much i enjoyed playing with it. Now,they have brought it out again but this time with a few extra features.Generally though everything is the same, apart from there are a few extrasound effects. Here are all the great things about it. Firstly theres the swimming pool which slides across to reveal anunderground base and is also where the TB1 takes off. Then theres therunway for TB2 which can be raised in order for it to fly off. as thishappens the palm trees atomatically lean back slightly to allow room. Finally theres the take off pad for TB3 which is basically a hole in theground which the TB3 comes out of. Then of course the main thing about this Tracey Island which is the soundeffects. In total there are 12 sounds and phrases to listen and the kidswill have a great time playing with these. The island itself is very detailed and well painted. Its also made of hardplastic so children will have a hard job breaking it. The palm treeshowever are a different story, and they will be gone in no time, if notthe trunks themselves, then the tree tops will, as they unclip veryeasily. Overall this wonderful Tracey Island toy really is somthing special and issure to entertain any child for hours on end. It is best though if youalso buy some of the Tunderbirds to go with it, and even some of thecharacters such as Brains, Virgil and Alan. It may seem a lot to pay forit, but children will have a great time playing with it.
Fun but flimsy! December 10, 2001 25 out of 26 found this review helpful
Our three-and-a-half year old son loves this toy and I suppose that's the most important thing but we have serious concerns about its durability - the slide-back swimming pool cover came adrift from its fixings after only two days (although it can be fixed)and there are several other fiddly bits that look as if any serious playing will damage them. We also found the stickers supplied time-consuming to fit and some have started curling at the corners. All in all, this toy costs a lot for what it offers.
Tracy Island is GO October 12, 2001 27 out of 27 found this review helpful
The general construction of the unit is fine. The child will be entertained by the sound effects. However it is essential to buy at least one of the thunderbirds that go with it. Recommend TB2, because it includes two additional items (TB4 and drilling machine.) Care needs to be taken with the palm trees, because they will be the first thing to break (My son has done it and his friend's set has suffered a similar fate.)
Tracey Island (vehicles not included) July 14, 2001 18 out of 27 found this review helpful
I bought Tracey Island from a local shop for my seven year old son just after Christmas 2000. It's good quality, but no vehicles available - they were "expected in". Could not find them at any online outlets. It's now July 2001, and I found and bought Thunderbird 2, except it is a T2 torch, and what is more it is out of scale with Tracey Island. Very disappointed!
Thunderbirds Tracy Island June 18, 2001 18 out of 19 found this review helpful
The Soundtech Tracy Island is a sturdy piece of kit. Having considered a DIY version, I'm glad i opted for the real thing. It was very straightforward to put together, requiring few of my limited DIY skills! The price is competitive against other similar products on the market. Tracy Island is easily recognisable as the Thunderbirds set. The launch pad for TB2 is 'neat', but a little tricky to operate, even for small fingers! The sound effects are really very good and the light up pictures enhance the reality for the children. However, without any figures or rescue units, Tracy Island is unlikely to hold your child's attention for very long. TB2 is available for purchase from all good toystores and quite a few supermarkets. But, this toy would be much more fun if it came with at least one of its accessories. Incidentally, if these models were available separately, the overall cost of the full set is likely to be around 75.
