Product Description Oi. Do you know your Poi from your Coi? If so, then welcome to the wonderful world of the Antipodean spinning ball craze taking the world by storm. Poi is a game of skill and strength that, at its most basic, features the manipulation of balls on ropes, much as in club twirling. But it goes further - much further, as millions of twirlers will testify. Originating with the Maori peoples of New Zealand, it has since travelled far and wide... and, with just a touch of high technology, has developed a new generation of fans - and a truly worldwide community. And that's where we come in. This multi-coloured LED Poi set offers a truly cosmic treat for the senses, as spinning Poi leave brightly coloured trails behind them. With this pair of durable Poi balls, each with a soft finish, the secret is very much in their colouration when twirling in the air around you, as LED lights strobe through a sequence of dazzling colours. Best of all, the set comes complete with a full-featured CD of hints, tips and tricks, with no fewer than 40 lessons to enjoy, plus extra text and full slow-motion. All in all, it's a veritable twirler's multicoloured multimedia paradise. And so say all of us.

Superb light trails mystify friends! April 28, 2008 Mr. S. Pourasghar (London, England) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
After an outdoor rave a couple of summers ago I decided that I'd give the old poi a go myself so I ordered these globalz light up poi and michel kahn's poi book. In retrospect, these probably aren't the best ones to start learning with as they are quite heavy and you will hit yourself in the head and crotch many times before you master them. However, I learned everything I know with those poi and that book, and am now confident to swing my moves while walking down the street and turning around. Note- if you have no patience, the temper of a child and aren't afraid of hitting other people then I would say don't buy these. But- if you can give it your best attempts at learning then you may find that this is an extremely rewarding, physically demanding and visually stunning past time. Great exercise for the upper body (you will ache). Practicing in the garden during the day can attract butterflies I have discovered. They think it's a butterfly party or something. Seriously. ANYHOO the point of these babies is to light 'em up and swing 'em in the dark. Green has always been my favourite as in neon form it is brighter and always stands out above other colours, but I reckon I'll invest in a blue pair in anticiapation of festival time this year. Careful with the connectors, the battery lids are actually little screws that can come out. Sadly I have lost one of my connectors, which has rendered my pair incapable of night time shenanigans, but I hope to pick up a replacement part. Overall- highly recommended. My first poi, nice weight if you know how to miss yourself. Remember, timing and pacing is more important than speed. These can build up a hell of a speed, but it's more trouble than it's worth when it's a strings distance from your goodies. I now use some fluffy light ones.
Awesome effect- not so great durability February 12, 2008 A. Lightowler I used to have a set of these poi , and i have to say that the multi coloured light effect is stunning :) - aside from my fire poi, these have to be the best poi i have ever owned in terms of impressing your friends. On the downside, i found that the overall lifespan of the poi was pretty poor- i think mine only lasted about 8 months, before the connections in the battery slots began to fail.- another small point- DO NOT EVER HIT YOURSELF IN THE CROWN JEWELS WITH THESE THINGS!! believe me you will know about it.... :P
